The Last Appeal

two years ago, on Christmas eve,
i made an appeal and stood in your court
i asked you to revoke my status-
from a stranger to a lover, or friends who love each other
but you declared me guilty
and sent your troops, with cannons aimed at my gate
if you had asked me, "will you survive?"
my answer would've been a big no
but here i am writing this one final ode
because i finally survived in that war

Premium Member Appeal to a Generation

Clean off the deck. This is your shift.
Be careful not to mislay our gift.
Hold fast. To lose it, we can't afford.
Some things we can't chuck overboard.
Hey, where did you just throw that thing?
That was freedom's ring.

THE APPEAL

It is a raw material
And it is part of the natural resources
A creation
It is a fertile land
And it is part of the world
A planet
The commodities

The sweetness of the tongue
Taste like caramel
Breath taking
The playfulness of the words
Sounds like birds
Speechless
The poem,

It is a commodity
And it is part of the ingredients
A sequence
It is a treasure
And it is part of the planet
A universe
The products

Premium Member Spectre of sex appeal

The Spectre of sex appeal by Salvador Dali 1934
On the right-hand bottom side, we see Dalí as a
child, dressed as a sailor, observing his monstrosity

I misunderstand, tell what is the plan
As I change from juvenile into man
Her formation intrigues and repulses
Instead of control, there are impulses

Her head morphs upon a backdrop mountain
Sack cloth breasts, stem flow of sandy fountains
Solid rock womb, born of imperfection
The spectre miscarries, sans reflection

Propped up and falls forward in painful lurch
Composite pieces, on acceptance search
Ossified limbs, mangled bone skewers stone
Destined to experience life alone

She poses in pain and reeks of decay
I stand with a hoop, brought along to play
Ignores my advances, falling apart
I’ll return with barbed wire to bind her heart

No more cushioned stumps or flailing crutches
Unraveling her knots, where flesh touches
I’ll fashion a cross and burial mound
Existence fades as parts crash to the ground

Parts don’t stay buried, so I light a fire
Warm them back up, on a funeral pyre
My god she’s beautiful, I’m overcome
We join together in flames, curse undone

Twilight silence
Pardon pray soar
Dreams float at dusk
Path through cosmos.

Majestic hues spark
Endless heart peace urged
Swish wish to blithe star
Dive in swinging thoughts
Lights serenade calm.

Appeal to a Peel

The bite was a crunch.
So wonderful!
One's teeth could do that kind of thing.

Some later bites, performed with age,
cause pain, so awful, so dreadful!
One's bites can do that kind of thing.

But what was peel,
that part of the crunch and the munch?
Peeled off now, and thrown away.

Yet apples remain apples,
taste remains taste.
What is this thing called ever?

Appeal to Poetry

We enjoy reading poems from the past.
They describe those ages, their horrors.
Should we regret delectation as we suck in,
and smile at, repugnance, misery, sadness?

Should we repel such poems of sorrow
choose only humour, gladness, joy?
So easily can we turn our backs on
misery that tortures so many.

So quickly may we lie on the ground,
punch it with clenched hands,
roar with our cries; or may we smile,
get up, forget what is so far behind us?

     Appeal of Poetry

Poetry is the open wide window of life to breathe fresh
     on creation cum recreation
     and in introspection .
Wandering in dreams to be amused
     on own muse resonating musical.

Human emotions is best to be relished
     through poems.
Lyrics also are part of poetry to reflect in core of heart
neither to analyze nor to criticise,
Emotive urges surge to flow in opulence
in poetry sprouting through seeds of dormant desires
     sown in human soul.

Poems , whelm sparkling as gems
      on refraction, diffraction
     through lens of feelings producing
     fabulous, fervid, fervent fervour..
     Whatever !
May be composed in symmetry of rhymes
or formed in assymetrical free verse
yet must be rhythmic being enhanced
      in passion, warmth and presentiment.

     Pretty Poetry has ecstatic entry
to find permanent place in every mind

Sublime

Sublime, and surreal,
Tantalizing, you appeal,
Unique, romance bloom,
Volatile, gone so soon,
Loving, our eternal tune....

Premium Member An Urgent Appeal

Dear Fellow Poets,
I urge you to read the short paragraphs below, and if you are so inclined, to contact your congressperson immediately. YOU CAN make a difference.

Israel is dreadfully short of weapons and military equipment for the 300,000 reservists it has called up in the last 24 hours to counter the unprecedented terror attack visited on it for the past three days.

A communique to me from Rachel Levy, a liaison for Garin Tzabar, the organization which supports lone soldiers (like my son Daniel Wolf) in Israel, reports hundreds of soldiers being asked to report for duty with ordinary hammers, as weapons (!)

Unfortunately, no new U.S. funds can be authorized for Israel without a new Speaker of the House in place. (All legislation and appropriations are hung up, by the way, not just emergency aid to Israel).

So, please contact your congressperson today. Ask him/her/they to move with all possible haste to choose a new Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Thank you for your reading, and for any and all support forthcoming.

        Blessings, Gershon Wolf

P.S. Prayers are extremely helpful as well. ~ gw
