                             Embrace the opportunity for renewal
                                        when dreams swell
                                         Find an analgesic
                                          - a dose of love
                                            Maidens blush,
                                           achieve Nirvana

                                    Reverberation of nostalgia
                                 while sweep the darkness out
                                   - a golden flickering spark
                                        even in low daylight

For life's farewell
old age is an analgesic,
it numbs the pain of letting go.

Lantana

"Lantana"

Beans grown
in a belly
planted they bloom
through crimson
they arrive
trying to weed
the prickly parent purple
Lantana out

The future is
bright and shiny
just like a new penny
that was held in the hands
of pappy and mammy

But they know better
like no dog was ever a pup
or walked on a leash before
Entitled impunity
endorphins win out

Beans grown
in a belly
planted they bloom
trying to weed
the prickly parent purple
Lantana out

Entitled impunity
endorphins win
grinning
Serious insects
and Rust
kill the analgesic

the prickly parent purple
Lantana turns
the child
entitled
Inside

Out

o’er what you cherished

by a false mother,

Clarence the Teller of Time

I call him Clarence,
for no especial reason.
He announces in a soothing
if somewhat stilted
synthesised tone,
'The time is now ten a.m.'
He will oblige again at ten thirty
and then again at eleven.

Such is the mobile phone:
it gives you an alarm,
it is your stopwatch,
it takes your photographs,
updates your social media,
gets you to your online bank.
It is also useful as a phone.

But Clarence is special:
Clarence talks to me.
A voice in the otherwise
silent room
where only I sit
with troubled thoughts,
the analgesic spirit
a constant tang in my throat.
Clarence punctuates time with me.

Relief

She takes to bed,
winds round his
erstwhile ardent pillow

cooled now by the
meter of cruelty’s clock;
sheets spoilt by life’s air;

she recalls the scent
of him, the pre-washed
grime of his shirt.

Yearning wrings convulse;
fill eyes beneath
quivering lids.

Coax her, blessèd
breeze; take her to the
limbo of pain

where slumber’s analgesic
can soothe the emery
of remembering.

The Whispering Tone

some have a voice &
the ability to curb that voice
so that it smooths itself out
like a new satin sheet
catering to the most sensitive of
hearing &
dancing upon the erogenous hot spots
within & around the ear,
where a gentle slow down of all things
can wash over
like the ebb & flow of an analgesic opiate
moving through the brain & down the
spine,
as if there was a mission being had
where all the pains were being sought out &
systematically destroyed in some unspeakable battle
that allows someone secretly touched in such a manner
being stroked inside by the fondling fingers of
that perfectly sensual tone,
to get off easy---
literally.

Premium Member Aye Forms Masked

An interlude forms around the apertures
Brows born of liquid gold arch like the bent rays of the sun
Cresting above irises of obsidian black and liner of kohl
Daydreams quiver above a cupid’s bow of upper lip
Ecstasy awaits the unmasking interloper.

Alluring analgesic to the proper, pivotal moldings modify
majestic moles, marking beauty beyond the banal,
heightening the hardened features of heaven's harlots.

M aking the internal mirror the external,
A sking the private to maintain its allure by encapsulation.
S he satisfies sinful longings by subterfuge.
K illing all that remains of her nubile heart.
