2018 Poems - Poems about 2018

2018

I don’t know if it happened quite yet.
The tinkering that caused the roar.
The gruff feeling in my mind.
I think it happened around that time, maybe.

The diagnosis came at a funky, furious time.
I languished and laughed.
So the year became memorable.
Not from swimming on the beach or anything.

No, not

Tensile strength bonding us,
    forever friends,
holding hands, eyes heavenward,
  we three are ONE,
      One with the jungle,
          one with the trees,

Premium MemberDancing Duet - 2018

In the golden savannah, where wild creatures roam,
there danced a giraffe and rhino, a sight to behold.
With grace and power, they moved to the beat,
two unlikely spirits, their rhythmic steps entwined.

The giraffe, with elegance, stretched her neck high,
her spots like constellations, reaching for the heavens.
Beside her, the rhino’s massive form swayed,
his horn pointed proudly, a

Done With This 2018

Leave me alone
Leave me alone
I am waiting to go home
Everyone's true colors have been shown
Everyone's level, I've outgrown
Now you get paid to be a clone
White girls get paid for what she's shown
Black girl does it, she's a rat, She's a shone.
Sh*t will leave you mind-blown
My high, please don't blow mine
God says its almost showtime
Smoke profit,

Hull Cenotaph, Remembrance Sunday, 2018

The Guildhall clock chimes
Eleven times this special day,
A great silence descends as
The two minutes tick away.
On parade at the Cenotaph,
An old man among old men
(Where did the years go for
In my mind I’m young again):

Not in best battledress
Or even Regimental Blues
But I’m booted and suited
With not quite bulled shoes,
And the old drill moves come back
So

DRUM CIRCLE
FEBRUARY 16, 2018

Tonight we talked to the earth
with our drums, our pulsating prayers
a rhythm and blues, a galloping growl,
an angry lament, a wretched outpouring
at the new Hunger Moon, at the latest mass
shooting, at a winter of despair in an amoral
era of high-tech and hate!
The Yoruba wail and the Lakota chant,
the bells on the drums

2018 Wittering

theres something going on
I heard it on the news
they're wittering on about it
at church, while sat in the pews

Jezza has been muttering
about something stupid
His relationship with May
will not require cupid

And all that Gatwick stuff
my friend said on the phone
I didn't really listen
As she does just tend to drone

I've really had enough
the UK's a cesspit
listening

Of time Past-
I cannot discard you (memory)
no matter how far I push you away
you come c r e e p i n g like a wild vine
deep in the corridors of my mind you grow . . .
I wish you would depart

2018

I am painted by a minor Dutch master
whose name is only known
as a Flemish squiggle.
Low clouds could evaporate
or lift the wings of varnished geese.
Wind-sails part a low-land mist.
I will send the black dog.
Pheasant and grouse fly up
each feather intense with hindsight.

This is a New Year’s Eve poem,
yet I can’t remove the Flemish windmills,
the black

December 22/2018
Written: by Miracle Man

I'm anxious and depressed by some hurts I remember,
Bad memories always make this month no cinch.
Each year when it comes to the month of December,
I'm sure some might think I'm just an old Grinch.

I'm bombarded by phone from those with a need,
Some knock on my door thinking I surely can.
I get

My Prayer for 9/26/2018
By: Miracle Man

My time today, Lord, rests in your hand,
And upon your word I make my stand.
I’ll endeavor this day to do my absolute best,
Let me feel your peace and not feel stressed.
Let the things I face appear less demanding,
I know your peace passeth all understanding.

The Ending of 2018

The end of 2018 is very near.
In just a matter of hours, 2019 will become the new year.
2018 was a sad year because my aunt died.
After 43 years of marriage, my uncle lost his bride.
But 2018 didn't completely suck, I've seen worse years.
In just a matter of hours, 2019 will be here.
