Contest Description

What to Submit?

1 original, poem on the theme of something concrete.
Only Concrete form is acceptable.

A Concrete Poem is one that takes the shape of what it describes.

What forms in your mind with the word "concrete"?

Concrete as a noun is a mixture of cement, sand, gravel and water used for building and paving.

Deployed as a verb, it forms something into a mass, solidifies.

As an adjective, it is existing in material form, able to be touched and felt, real, solid... something definite, positive.

Stir the muse and pour me something concrete, of but not limited to your foundation, something intrinsic or whimsical. The word concrete to appear in the title with your "something", and in the body of your poem. Construct your poem to form the shape of that something you are describing.

My own art has prominently featured buildings, I'm not looking for concrete block buildings, not to say they are not allowed, they will be judged with more scrutiny on their visual composition.

I will not be looking at the works until assembled, so you have till contest close to tweak your concrete. Have fun!
