Oh, fear! The sinister finger of a tornado!

                                Twisting, spinning, spiraling in turbulent

toroidal twirls of angry winds and high

pressures, few forces - natural or nay -

are as destructive or as frightening or

as beautiful! Yes, I am myself afraid

of those weaving beasts of spinning

horror, for there are few things as

                   certain to bring unavoidable death

and destruction, but I have also

always been drawn so to their

                                 violent beauty and power, and

                                     their affect on atmosphere and

light. There is little anyone can

do to avoid their wrath if they

find you, and that assured ill

anger of nature is why they

                             are so reviled ... buildings,

                         cars, animals, trees, bits,

                   pieces, farms, insects,

               trucks, people, pets,

             houses, things that

           grow, move, stand

           still, fixed, loose,

            secured - there

              is hardly any-

                thing that is

                    outside the

                        mix of the

                            horror, but

                                   if you are

                                           a broad,

                                                   strong,

                                                           long,

                                                                   flat,

                                                        ....,,,,~<<<((0))>>>~,,,,....

This is very creative and I am sure it was not so easy to do. We had a very devastating tornado to come thru here in the spring. God was with everyone in that no one was hurt or killed. A lot of property damage and huge stands of trees decimated. Congrats on your win. Sara

Awsome, Greg, shape and wording!! Have you seen one up close? I kind of remember seeing one far off in iowa. But maybe I am imagining it. BIG congrats.

Back to congratulate you on your wonderful win. Clever and well done. We just had a tornado warning the other night. Luckily nothing. It's the time of the year when it all starts up. Well done appearance and poem. ;)

Thank you SO much, Susan! Yes, it's that time of year for us as well, (I live in Maine) ... we don't get many tornado warnings, but three-or-four every year in the summer, and some very intense thunderstorms. I love t-storms but NOT tornadoes, (though I have a fascination with all extreme weather). Glad you enjoyed my poem! :-) <3

I thought that was you! Your eloquence preceeds you ;) Spectacular piece Greg, and I share your morbid fascination! Twisters have been done in concrete but this is the best I have ever seen. And oh YES to be a flat piece of concrete! Fabulously creative. Congratulations on your silver finish! xomo <3

Wow! Never expected this. Extraordinary and beautiful. We have lots of tornado warnings our way. You just never know. Perfect description of the violence and the helplessness.

Thank you very much, Susan! I live in Maine, so not many tornadoes, but we get a few warnings every summer, and some powerful thunderstorms. We're more concerned with ice and snow, sadly, and that's why I plan to move to the South Pacific one of these days! :-)
