Contest Description

What to Submit?

A NEW pirate themed limerick, it doesn't have to have the word pirate in it. It can be about a lost treasure, pirate ships, mermaids, shipwrecks, Jack Sparrow, etc.  Let's have some fun! I am looking forward to reading your poems!

PLEASE DATE THEM!!  NEW Poems only!!

There will be multiple placements.

7-10 syllables   A
7-10 syllables   A
5-7 syllables    B
5-7 syllables    B
7-10 syllables  A

Please follow the above syllable count for your limericks in order to be placed in the contest! Lines 1, 2 and 5 should rhyme. Lines 3 and 4 should rhyme.  Please have your syllable counts the same for lines, 1, 2 and 5.  Lines 3 and 4 should have the same syllable counts as well.  For example if line 1 has 8 syllables then lines 2 and 5 should also have 8 syllables. If line 3 has 5 syllables then line 4 should also have 5 syllables. Hope this makes sense!

Preparing Your Entry

Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts. No Names on your entries!

English Language

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
