What to Submit?
Write a new 20 lines or less poem using only single or double syllable English language refractory rhymes at the END OF EACH LINE, choosing words from the list provided in the footnote to be used in this contest. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO RHYME THOSE WORDS (see the Special Instructions below).
Definition
Refractory rhymes are those words that do not have a natural rhyming word without having to resort to foreign/absolute/slang words, slant rhyme or mosaic rhyme. The word ‘rhyme’ here is used in the strict sense, called a perfect rhyme, that the words are pronounced the same from the vowel of the main stressed syllable onwards. Words that rhyme in one accent or dialect may not rhyme in another.
See my blog* for the explanations.
Title (this and no other title): Mother Said
Special Instructions
Regale us with tales of MOTHER SAID (or any other caregiver during your formative years); it may be in any genre (humorous or serious). See my 1st example poem, Mother Said (link below).
Minimum 10 lines maximum 20 lines poem. The number of refractory rhymes used depends on the poetic design you choose, eg 8 for a Pantoum, 14 for a Blank Verse sonnet, etc. You may use the same word twice.
You may use any poetic device of your choice—I used persona in my Pantoum, The Co-dependent (link below). NB persona, alliteration, and a number of other poetic devices are incorrectly listed here at PS as poetic forms. Please only use true poetic forms to identify your poem. Thanks.

Presentation
I prefer that the poem is presented flush with the left margin. Because of the length of the poem, it must be in single spaced lines, and one double space between each stanza (verses), if applicable.

Judging Criteria
CONTENT and FLOW are important factors, and the above requirements must be met in full. I am looking for originality and imaginative compositions. Correct grammar and spelling (American or British) are desired.
Feedback
Feedback will be given on the top three winners directly on the poems. NO correspondence will be entered into regarding the contest results posted.
