Asking For Prayers
Our son has been sick for several days. One of our daughters has taken him to the ER. They have diagnosed this time that he has a brain bleed. I ask for your prayers for him and for us.
We have been trying since Thursday to get the proper medical help for him from the doctors or medical community. We still don't know what they will do to for this new situation.
Thank you,
Sara
Just heard from the hospital and it is not a brain bleed. They are still running test to find out what could be causing the symptoms he is having. Thank you ..
Update: He has been diagnosed with an epidural abcess just above the shoulder blades. He has been helicopter flighted to Emory University for emergency surgery. A continued thank you for your quickly said or lengthly said prayers. SK...About 5:41 Sunday evening
He was taken to surgery around 10 last night. Our daughter called again around 2 to say the surgery was successful and everthing went well. She said she would spend the night and only call if something went wrong. It is 6:11 and we have not heard anymore so no news is good news. Thank you to all who have prayed. Sara
First, let me give a list of events.
1. State Farm Ins. Company sent our son a letter saying they were going to cancel his home insurance if he did not clean up around his house. Our son is disabled and living on a low income. So he got out there trying to do what they wanted done. He called and said he had hurt himself doing all that work. He went downhill from there.
2. I took him to a local clinic which would not see him for free or take his insurance. So he paid their fee. They said they thought he had a bowel blockage so they did an x-ray and they thought that was what was wrong. They wanted him to go to the local hospital for test but he said he was not going. We then too him to the VA in Dublin, Ga. who went with the already diagnosed problem. They sent him to the county hospital there. They misdiagnosed him again. It went downhill from there.
3. The hospital here that he refused to go to finally saw him and made the right diagnosis by way of a robot type computer that let him talk to a neurologist at Emory. It made the right diagnosis and they got the right test done an MRI that showed the problem.
4. I had seen the knot on his back on Friday morning when we went to Dublin to help my husband get him back to the VA urgent care. I told my husband and daughter that he had the knot but for some reason it did not register with them. Our daughter took over getting him where he needed to go on Friday and still no diagnosis. He ended back up at our home on Saturday afternoon. I had to call an ambulance around 4 A.M. to help us get him up out of the floor. I told him and the EMTs he needed to go to a hospital to get the proper diagnosis. Finally back at our local county hospital they find out what was wrong.
Update: August 18, 2022
The feeling is coming back in his lower body. Which is a relief for his mind and ours.
He is being given a port or pic line so that they can give him intravenous antibiotics for 6 weeks.
We don't know how long he will still have to be in I CU but it is looking like probably at least another week because he is having blood pressure problems.
Arrangements have been made to transfer him here to a nursing home when he can come home so that they can continue to see he gets PT, meds, and meals like he needs for a few more days or weeks.
Thank you,
Sara
