What a blow! So sad - my condolences to all who are feeling this tremendous loss. Carolyn was one of the most endearing, kindest people, a friend, a mentor, a skilled poet/novelist whose emails and letters I am going to greatly miss. So sad she never managed to come across the pond as she wished to meet and stay. Peace always sweet friend...xx

Like a few, I'm rarely here, and I only knew by reading a post by Charmaine on Facebook. Sad day for me as we were close away back when I joined the Soup, and Carolyn along with some other terrific poets brought my writing along immensely. If it weren't for Carolyn, I'd have never got to where I am with my writing, sweet everlasting dreams Miss Devonshire xxxx

Although I haven't been active here for quite some time, it was with a heavy heart that I heard this sad news. So many years of exchanging poetry, comments and Christmas cards with Carolyn brought us together, and yet we never met face to face. But somehow I know this gracious lady will be linked to those of us who befriended her the rest of our lives, and we've been touched by her kindness forever. Rest in Peace, Carolyn

Thank you Sara for notifying the Soup Familly. Carolyn was among the lst to welcome me to soup and was so supportive. She was highly esteemed by soupers.We were in constant contact via regular email and I had the last contact with her about 2 weeks ago & she indicated things looked very bleak. She loved everyone & everyone loved her! Bob

She was such a sweet lady. I will miss her kind comments and wonderful poetry. She was always so supportive to everyone. Such gloomy news on a bright summer day. "To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to live and a time to die..." May she rest in peace.

Andrea, I noticed that you posted a comment on her wall on her obituary page so you found it. Just type in your search engine Carolyn Devonshire obituary Ormond Beach, Florida and it should come up with a list about her but there should be one of those that is about the funeral home where she is and just click on that link. Brandy, As far as I know it was a very short illness, just a few months. I guess if someone were to be stricken with something like that it would be best for it to be very short duration. Sara

I think it says so much about Carolyn as a person and Poetry Soup as a close family of poets that her passing has left me feeling very shocked and sad; this despite me only having minimal contact with her over the last two years. My thoughts and condolences to her family and friends.

Oh dear, this is so sad, I'll never forget Carolyn, not only for her wonderful poetry and friendship, but the fact that when i first started here on soup,10 years ago, she came to my defence, over some guy's bullying. Please add my condolences Sarah...and thanks for the info.

Sara, Carolyn's death has left me heartbroken. She had a beautiful soul. We have been poetry friends since 2008. I have many pieces of jewelry she has sent me over the years. Last night I felt her presence and came to PS to read her poetry and the comments on her poems, she was loved by many. The last poem she wrote was for me as an entry in one of my contests and that is something that I will treasure forever ~ love and tranquility _Constance

Thanks for doing the blog Sara, I have known for some weeks that Carolyn was ill but respected her wishes not to talk about it. I am beyond sad at her passing, but know she is at peace and out of pain. Its so odd, this morning I put on earrings which she had sent me as a Christmas gift, I just had a feeling she was no longer with us. My thoughts are with her family and also with her many friends here on soup. hugs Jan xx
