Arthur Vaso is a Canadian poet, born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He has had his works published in local papers/magazines as well as on many Web sites. He has traveled extensively around the world, and writes about a wide variety of topics.
Darren White, one of the greatest poets I have had the honor of knowing, has passed away peacefully yesterday June 10, 2024.
We have known for about ten days this was going to come, and it has been the most difficult ten days of my life. I have known him about ten years, and during this time, he has become my best friend, my brother, my family, my everything and now my Angel.
A side from tons of emails, we talked everyday at the exact same time during all these years. He was autistic and routine was important for him and as it turns out for me too. He was abused, beaten, and paralyzed from the waist down, suffered obvious PTSD along with numerous other ailments. Yet, here he was the kindest, softest person I have ever met, and also one of the strongest and bravest persons I have even met. He died way to young, (under 28) I just wish him peace as and he suffered physical pain daily. One of the things I tried to do every single day is make him laugh, because for those few brief moments the pain went away.
Not only was he great poet, he spoke seven languages, and edited many of my poems in both English and French. He was also in my view an intellectual, his grasp of concepts was amazing, the hours we spent discussing everything and nothing, and even more, well I just miss him terribly. He left Soup years ago due to the toxic environment here with a few, but he found a home on a few other sites.
I wrote this as much for me as for him, I just miss him so much.
Dear Hazza, I love you and will miss you with all my heart, my world is now empty.
