A sudden shift
I felt my spirits lift
Then the spotlights' glare
And I'm left standing there
Too new to identify:
An imperfect alibi
Their surgical stares
Dismembering me
With wry deft precision
Paralyzed by pompous glares
Cursing my decision
To com here willingly
And climb their golden stairs
Their spotlights fade
No jury heard my case
Their judgments made
Their cruelty bares one face
Their hearts: a crimson blade
Their eyes bestow disgrace
On my low inferior grade
Am I too much a fool to care
My brands blazed as I stepped
The high and mighty scare
Easily as my forbearance crept
In crushing bounds echoing
In the silence seized.
All eyes hollowed as one fainted
Their hallowed night tainted
My mottled old soul sainted
And thus, the rest of the night
Fell before me
On bended knee.
Oh, how I loath a formal party
The rumor mill is printing already
Some joker introduced as, Eddie
Ask If me and Joan, from accounting-
Were going steady.
From there-
The casualties just kept mounting
In heaven's realm, where stars do gleam,
A message I send, a tender dream,
To my dear child, taken too soon,
A daughter beloved, bathed in moon.
Thirteen years have passed, yet it feels like yesterday,
When I held you, just ten hours, in my arms, in dismay.
The pain of losing you, a fresh wound,
A mother's love, forever bloomed.
I imagine you, in heaven's embrace,
Free from pain, free from any trace,
Of the suffering that took you away,
Leaving me here, in sorrow to stay.
But I know, my dear, you're in a better place,
Surrounded by love, in a boundless space,
Where angels sing and flowers bloom,
And you're safe from all harm and doom.
So, happy birthday, my sweet baby girl,
In heaven's arms, you're a precious pearl.
I'll cherish the memories, of our time so brief,
And hold you, always, in my heart, with belief.
Though the pain never truly fades,
I find solace in the love I've made,
With your memory, forever intertwined,
In my heart, you'll forever shine.
So, happy birthday, my dear,
In heaven, your spirit is clear.
I'll see you again, in God's embrace,
And hold you, forever, in this sacred space.

the water smooths herself out,
admiring the celebration of hope
the oaks admire the decorated pine
humans have adorned her
and set her adrift in a native canoe
she parades her truth, showing love
this happens every year the oaks whisper
the forest quiets herself feeling a reverence
a soulful event that changes the ambiance of the forest
fire enjoys the Christmas smells
popping and kicking in a delighted way
mesmerized children come closer, loving her
she feels this admiration but once a year,
smacks her lips and a stream of sparks travel up the fireplace
it's magic! one of the little ones says;
she gets so excited, she feels like burning down the house.
