Old Gooseberry Unveiled

Old Gooseberry gets in when you let your guard down
Handsome, diabolically friendly, he never shows a frown
Temps you with spirits, pills and elixirs to make you high
Some addicts think he is a splendiferous, wonderful guy.

Unveiled

At the mellow edge of dusk where the sky
is opaque and blushed,
a languid fade of light obliquely dreams.

Eyes bruised by loss are made translucent,
