She awakened to a world she did not know
where fair maidens dress the world does show
their charms in unseemly, wanton pose
cast off their virtue ere their beauty glows

Reached for the coach had conveyed her there
Alas! Her fingers grasped but frightful air
Lay her down by virgin clearwater brook
Her reflection gasped, her once-sweet life she took...

We fool ourselves we’ll rise above our age

Losing Face

One may see puffins and parrots
any hour of the week
both birds bear a big colourful beak
the former pelagic feed on fish
and live in large colonies on coastal cliffs
tho' monogamous collectively breed as a bunch
but with renown as the Atlantic sea clown
in Iceland several are served as lunch
the latter arboreal primarily frugivorous
toco being by far the largest
are opportunistic and occasionally omnivorous
to a few prudes it may seem unseemly or rude
and yet if they stick around they'll later get down
as their chicks are seen to hatch in the nude
these avians may fly high in the sky
have the same such things as two wings and legs
and of each species the female lays eggs
but that's where similarity does stop
one puffin can do more than toucan do
in more or less of a day
after mating its pecker turns grey
and without waiting its bill it will drop

Premium MemberThe Luggage Light Brings

Light arrives from its flight
wheeling behind its suitcase of shadows,
exposures, echoes and consequences.

It spills its hoard across the floor,
and gathers remnant dark
remains from dim corners.
It daubs and stitches
black silhouette capes and patches
behind all it passes.
These shadowy figures are light's wind vanes
tracing where its being seen.

Light reveals the cracks, dents, dust and flaws
hidden by unrealized expectations.
It dusts the scene for fingerprints
and other forensic traces
bringing all the hidden
unseemly before and afters
into stark relief.

Nothing escapes light's black valise
carry-on bag.

Glorified Street Nuisance

GLORIFIED STREET NUISANCE

Fumbling fingers falter, failing to fasten firmly.
Fine fabric falls, flapping feebly for all to see.
Trousers tumble, torn from their trusty tether.
Tumbling to the thighs, they tangledly twirl together.4

In streets where mischief reigns supreme,
A nuisance brews, a sight unseemly extreme.
Young rascals roam, with trousers low,
Exposing more than they ought to show.8

With swag, they claim, they strut and preen,
But sagging pants reveal a lack of sheen.¹°

Like prisoners' garb, a style they embrace,
Yet decency & sense, they discard with grace.
Their antics annoy, their behavior bold,
Disrespectful and rude, their actions unfold.¹4

With each step, they sink in moral decay,
Their future dim, in a world that's gone astray.¹6

Wish for a change, a shift in their stride,
To dress with dignity, and let swag subside.
For true greatness lies in character and might,
Not in sagging pants, and a nuisance in sight.²°

Premium MemberWho's facilitating hate

I feel for the abused Chinese Korean Japanese..'
In twenty twenty, the vision was skewed altered
By some loaded news' as the bbc and itv and sky
Did the bidding, from on high.' They reported of much?
Mainly fear and death and as such.' they whipped into a frenzy
Did not comport sensibly, rather ran stories on a spitting
Causing a killing ' that claim though un-proven' fed through
The people like leven; most poision-ed.' So fellow humans
Suffered, against them curses were uttered.' Then violence
Unseemly unleashed.' Such a shame there was seen.'
I ask why such was the theme.? I hope much better is
Engendered, And should these media outlets be held?
Sequesterd.? There should be a redress.! I'm proposing
To combat false information, that should not be the least.'
Instead on truth may we feast.)

For He ministers, and will here govern precious?
(Yeshua) most welcome' He alone is the best!!

On his stagings..Running round corridors of twitching
Curtains and talking walls.' He's madness knows no

There'll be' an anger most unseemly..!! Just to put it
Keenly.' Emerging; emergency perspective of this little Ritchie; to me.!

sykehus

Sykehus

The old hospital in the town center
stark and unpainted
Dotted about in the near vicinity
Funeral homes look like pearls
around an elderly lady's neck
at every election cycle the promise
was to build a new Krankenhause
in a rural environment and there
were pamphlets showing how great
it will be, but, perhaps next time
when a gothic movie was made
the hospital was used as a backdrop
As it stands there is not much to do
doctors chat with nurses, because
the ailing prefer a hospital in another
town, the old place is more like
a hospice, where the old are sent
waiting for death, their relatives
think it is unseemly to let them die
at home, not good for the children

Zen
Neglect is
the biggest
disease

Premium MemberWorld War 111

Historically, all wars have had winners and losers.
Also, lines were clearly drawn for the choosers.

World War 1 was a birthing room for World War 11.
From the ashes, there arose one with a different worldview.

Not since the African slave trade had the world been so unseemly.
An entire race of people was stripped of both life and liberty.

World War 111 promises, not better, but the worth ever conceived.
It bodes to be the most tragic of warfare that we would not believe.

There will be no gains or winners or bosses, but only losers and losses.
The final end-game will reflect the result of mankind's evil choices.

I'm not a would-be prophet and would much prefer to be wrong than right.
My hope is that in our darkest hour, Christ will shine the brightest light.

Ice Angel

Soft flurry of snow, blown south to the sea,
brisk breath of Boreas breaks summer's stupe.
What strange, phantom dream here stands before me,
freezing river's course till it runs a loop?

How rapid the advance of blue-white ice-
crystallizing in my veins - no remorse!
Breath seizes at her sight - I drop the dice.
This cold snap - nothing better; nothing worse.

What right could I have - mad man of the marsh -
to harbor hope from latitudes higher?
Unseemly, uncouth, unwittingly harsh -
My spirit flickers as I watch her spire.

Yet, how could one complain, in summer's realm?
Such gift to see ice angels overwhelm ...

Crown of the Enemy

One causal cadence continues casting,
Crawling, creeping, conniving, grasping,
Graven, rotten, rude, deprived,
Hatred, boiling, bursting, sly.

This cadence is personified, the cause
Is what leads men to die, the lack (it’s called)
Is like a lie, Augustine wrote while ‘twas
Close. Yet, and by grace yet, a slain Man’s cry
To the Father makes men to fly, the Dove so free
Chose each to be here personified anew.

The wise can read, they sure can count, and well to do,
And yet their days seem long as pouting from a babe.
One to death and one to save.
He (not Him) knows what men do and like to hear and can
Construe. Watch keenly, for his unseemly breeding takes
A chord and deprives it of color, this is his crown, and makes
To the wise the young seem older, and have wit of a frown.

Again, the wise know much if wise they’re true.
Wisdom and knowledge are
Not a synonym to surmise just as eagles to food.
The enemy travels wide and far.

For Delores

Not given to shades bolder
Opting to render her view
In the softest of pastel

Soft voiced soft hued
though iron clad willed
brush stroke gentle to canvas as well

Unable to see the unseemly side
The gauche vain
Indelicate sight

I wanted so to be like her
Failing miserably
try as I might

Keep your eye simple
Incorporated no
Cemented into her heart

Filtered once was filter enough
A glance
Needed just a start

 The exit road to
Perdition
A way she fully dismissed

As an errant child sent to their room
to rue
the way remissed

Her eye sight beginning
 to fail her now
Lenses covered in dust

Her vision yet still as
Clear as new day as
to where to put her trust

This I learned from my sister
A delicate flower
A force

To be reckoned with
As she made her point
Without ever raising her voice

Premium MemberLiving Off of the Government

We scowl at this great country we live in?
Such ingrates we can be…….almost a sin!

       Never appreciating its grand freedoms?
Instead fake news paints unholy doldrums!

We never had cities, destroyed by war.
Instead, we just demand more and more.

Such ugly, scowling crowds on TV screens.
Not grateful at all, just unseemly mean!

The good, the giving, like first responders.
Replaced by crooks from countries far yonder!

Worse yet, by those born on our own shores.
       Who want everything free~eternal more!

Perhaps, we can cease being wee, adult babies?
       Get a job, get off-line, lazy-daisies!

***Note…There is a plethora of jobs in the USA.
But some have forgotten the dignity of a paycheck.
Of giving to others, which is a true joy. ***

*** Note… this does not apply to those who are
validly disabled or ill…..certainly!. I understand that.
Just to those out to “beat the system.”

I Remember Laika

I remember Laika

The warm sun and wind keep winter at bay
but it is time to say goodbye to Laika, the dog
the new face of the moon.
The farewell can’t be delayed a boy has run to
the outer field sits on a stone tries not to cry
the struggle to accept the unavoidable.
Dark cloud from the North where nature is solemn
there is no hint of gaieties in their towns’
architecture
Winter hearts will dispose and scatter misery
protestants do not allow for lofty dreams.
The wind is cold, new rules people must work harder
the almond tree must stop flowering in mid-winter
spreading unseemly hope over the planet.

Wasted Effort

I’m sure that what you seek
Is at some cloud-veiled peak
That could pick up more than a week
For a nearing by The Weak;
To be soon skinny that is sleek
And mentally thwarted – A freak
This proving by easily sounding Greek …

And-Gosh!-already, I picked out a beak
About to on it havoc wreak
Or leave an unseemly streak …

It is sure, a discouraging prophecy
But Wasted Effort is no legacy.
