Premium Member In the Dead of Night
Listen to poem:
The bridge is covered, has no light
all who pass over are shaded
eclipsed by day, in dead of night
unseemly notice evaded
by keeping all's well, out of sight....

Clueless As Usual
I looked at an unseemly site online,
the ad convinced me that this one is fine,
I searched and found a lady
she'll bring a friend named Sadie...
I just can't figure which date will be mine!...

Mystical Matrimony
When fate decides to bring you love
Blithe portents ferry on snow white dove
For two, unseemly hands weave master glove
Then twain bodies will one soul share
Twined hearts will alternate beats square
Free spirits will in harmonious chorus flare
Dissonant minds, other's thoughts instinctively pair...

Premium Member What Is Under the Ski Hills Though
All ski hills split on the same night.
Landfills beneath were a terrible sight.
Stench-like gasses were such a blight.
Large rats exploded out like dynamite.

Ridiculous ugly unseemly sight.
Gave school children an awful fright.
Screaming bloody murder big and bright.
As rats carried them off into the night....

If Butterflies Are Free
If butterflies are free
We must abolish acrylic
Boxes
Paper weights and
Tiny bottles with
Tasteless flowers...
Butterfly nets
Picture flames and
Collectors who boast to know
Them all by name.
We must abolish fancy coasters and
Little boys
Who pinch their wings...
Dead butterflies are such
Unseemly things....

Autumn
Autumn trees burnished with silken robes
Uniform, Katsura lobes glow with cherry strobes
Twinkling-orange, Sugar Maple stars; brimming mother
lode
Unseemly, brown-spotted, White Oak pinnates; fools gold
Majestic, yellow-crowned, Aspen leaves' pleated folds
shimmer
Notched, White Ash lanceolates bathed in purple gloss
glimmer...

Joy Perhaps
What is this joy
I do not recognize it
It seems unseemly
Why do I feel it
It seems quite unnatural
In fact, due for certain reprehension

I would let you know of this joy
but, ahh, that is the certain kiss of death,
joy seems only deserved in the face of certain death.

Except of course that death is always certain
(If not imminent)

The Pond Called Love: a Sort of Short Satire
Some people do not fall in love
They jump, headfirst, heedlessly
With little thought of where they'll land

Others dip in a toe and then
Either slide in cautiously or
Retreat with great haste, in contempt

Still others trip, most gracelessly
With much unseemly splashing
And left quite without their pride

Often, its some combination
Of the three above here listed...

Peaceful Plot
Put bird feeder by my stone,
so I will never be alone;
plant a tree, apple or pear,
flowers to give the spot some flair;
at least some grass, but do not trim,
so people might come on a whim
to share the earth with one below
lined up along this cemetery row.
A marbled bench would be so nice,
or birdbath for some added spice;
I do not want my resting place
to be unseemly, lacking grace....

Wasted Effort
I’m sure that what you seek
Is at some cloud-veiled peak
That could pick up more than a week
For a nearing by The Weak;
To be soon skinny that is sleek
And mentally thwarted – A freak
This proving by easily sounding Greek …

And-Gosh!-already, I picked out a beak
About to on it havoc wreak
Or leave an unseemly streak …

It is sure, a discouraging prophecy
But Wasted Effort is no legacy....

Harken To Halcyon Ways
So a feint hope seeps through,
Though she won't wait.
And I am taken aback.
Sit, watching the entrancing eyes
Reflect an odd transcient light.

Well now I slowly grow
Feel gradually more old.
Quiet musings, once ventured
I cannot reclaim.
So I look down upon skin.

Let desire becomes licit.
Let avarice reach out.
Consume, enjoy.
All in unseemly yearning.
We are all awful and I'm complicit....

Luggage Check
Clouded glass prevented
The driver from reaching her
Destination. Sunken eyelids,
Furrowed forehead,
Contributed to the already
Wearied woman's unseemly appearance.
Yet she dreaded that most of all.
Then as fast as a fish flitting
Out of the water and in,
She realized how wrong they'd
Been all along. These freeloading
Hitchhikers were simply baggage
In her already jam-packed car.
Furthermore, they
Didn't deserve to see that side
Of her, or any, for that matter....

Prisoner of Life
He was a prisoner for life cooped in a cell of human bones. An unseemly brain had plagued him and love was not to speak its name. Rarely a smile was ever seen or a pleasant song ever sung. His heart beat just to stay alive, his thoughts not shared with anyone. Life’s woes made not the man this way nor playact in some masquerade. He was innately born this way and died, it’s sad to say that way. At his wake there were no others only me, his loving brother.

Entropy
An unavoidable state is the disorder
of entropy
Cosmic matter is hurtling there with
unseemly velocity
All heavenly bodies seen in the galaxy
Have a date with entropy historically
Entropy is working even for you
When the mirror confirms lines more
than a few
Entropy has a place for each cosmic
speck
The horse called Gravity is the purveyor
on the trek
In time all will be tossed in a black hole,
atoms to rearrange
Where endless recycling begins
into another Big Bang...
