can only start near end
remember let touch send
text tow wind knot unkind
several almost always blind
sans sanctions dubious doubt
say mean like when what shout
carries sharing showing how
onward fast firm never bow
talking points pants unknown
leaves most places all alone
random rules ruin rights rot
cools unnerves calms hits spot
late early loose worm kills bird
silent talks sounds rarely heard
wonder if of out with not who
plays things spams let capture you
good spear into through core
trembles minds hearts bodies more
remembers few less censored
fragments fails points scored

I read a poem to my quilting class,
Which happens over Zoom.
It got a warm reception, so
They liked it, I’d assume.
I wrote it several weeks ago;
The topic: sewing curves,
Which even to a practiced quilter
Oftentimes unnerves.
It’s satisfying seeing
A reaction to my writing,
Since mostly, just my husband’s thoughts
Are those I am inviting.
While written comments gratify,
Like a fellow poet’s note,
A responsive audience can make
My spirits rise and float.
My quilting skills are modest,
Though they have improved with time,
But the talent I’m the proudest of
Is setting thoughts to rhyme.

Who is this person who observes?
Familiar, from old photographs
the similarity unnerves:
I laugh the way he also laughs.
Eyes close, the image disappears,
as does my father, and my fears.

A transgender Barbie! What? The bridge ladies are upset.
Their best friend is not proud Mary, my friend from Winterset.
Her daughter is transgender, and she is tickled as can be.
If you had a transgender in your family, you would feel differently.
The laughter gets so loud, it unnerves me more than just a bit.
I had one, said one mean looking broad, but my husband threw a fit.
We threw her out, and now she sleeps on someone else’s couch.
I wonder about this woman, whose empathy is apparently a slouch.
But isn’t she still your baby? Don’t you love her? I ask this crone just so.
She gives a maniacal laugh, I think it is a cover up for feelings of woe.
Why should she? Asks another witch from the table I am sitting at.
So I get up and run out, screaming, for their meanness is so phat!

I regret having been born
to forlorn in this noxious, wicked world.
I distaste that I was born
in a biased, impovershirished, corrupt society.
I was born to careless; unloving parents.
I am living but unknown,
popular but uncounted.
No birth certificate to certify I am a living human being.
I am invisible to my State,
I am not included when they plan for others.
I regret having been born
in an abusive, malfunctional, disjointed society,
like that in which my mother slept unlettered.
A society where one aims to unnerves one for personal praise.
I curse the day that brought me to this world.
A world where life dictates my lifestyle,
A world where I am a victim of circumstances,
and my wits are buried in oblivion.
Africa is the cradle of mankind
yet her sons and daughters developed foreign lands first,
her children are haunted by these vicious cycles of poverty.
And now leaving Africa has been the African dream!
I wish was not one of these children.
I regret having been born;
To…believe the sky is the limit
when Armstrong’s feet stepped on the moon.

We are a perfectly mismatched set.
We share contradictory alliances in Peace
We conquer complimentary foes in War
You quell the unnerving anxiety that haunts me
And I haunt the quelling worry that unnerves you.
My emotional lows keep your mental highs grounded, well-balanced, and sane
While your emotional ups grant my mental downs the conviction, confidence and trust needed to take flight.
.
May the discrepancies we harmonize bring the peculiarities identified by our inner circle
because they misunderstand
the eccentricities that keep us identically opposite.
We will thrive in eternal impermanence, blissful in our gloom,
satisfied with our greed
We are a perfectly mismatched set

Winds whip and whistle
past bark of branches bare
collar-cringing cold
winter's whipsaw wares
Frozen faces, fingers
tingling, trembling toes
shivers, shakes, sunken eyes
signal endless woes
A-howling and a-knocking
the nasty night unnerves
the gentle dreams of lovers
nestled in their curves

Awash with a bash and stash of slush cash
Ashley lets her mind go blind
This propels rebels in her stables to blush
Ashley gushes and hushes the unkind.
Ashley lets her mind go blind
In a jolly gesture in future which seeks a cure
As Ashley gushes and hushes the unkind
When she berates crates and pates of a lampoon lure.
Ashley’s jolly gesture in future seeks a cure
When voracious vultures pop up on the scene
To berate crates and pates of a lampoon lure
Which unnerves the verve and nerve of a cocky queen.
When voracious vultures pop up on the scene
Ashley propels rebels in her stables to blush
In a move which unnerves the verve and nerve of a cocky queen
Who’s awash with a bash and stash of slush cash.

No Longer Let Exist
To me, presence of a putrid pedophile,
Should be profile of person put on trial;
Mental and emotional laws is breaking;
Innocent children advantage of taking.
How could God person like this produce;
To rubble existance of poor child reduce;
Had created commotion that us unnerves;
Breaking rules while around them curves.
Why let him roam through streets at night;
Toss in jail, throw away key, lock up tight;
Add his name to those on prison's long list;
God, no longer with us allow to ever exist.

Catwalks
Crowd gawks
Wont style
Forced smile
Strike pose
Fake nose
Weird strut
Flat butt
Scant curves
Unnerves
Small-hipped
Lunch skipped
Stick-thin
Chagrin
Faux tan
Pecan
Plucked brow
Used plough?
Long lash
Bleached 'tache
Plump lips
Veiled nips
Waxed mound
Astound
Forebear
Despair
Sweet girls
Morph churls
Sly pout
Grim trout
Taut thighs
All lies
Make hot
Post-shot
Airbrushed
Not hushed
Mere gaud
Defraud
Model?
Twaddle!

Topsy-turvy seems so
well, it seems so cute
relentlessly cute
saccharin cute.
Until and unless you're in it
and then, well then the
belly comes to regard
its place in you as
something less than
...certain.
Topsy-turvy, ugh
abounding now
injured this, and angry he
fractured that, and we less she
ugh
pitchforks are being sharpened
and eyes are narrowing
the hits keep coming
and then sooner than
we're ready, before we've
absorbed the first hits
they're covered
before we've recovered
ugh
and now Leonard has gone
and left us
(his poetry)
and now Leonard has gone
and left us
(his view)
and now and now.
And now
we're left with
only what Leonard
left.
You left too soon
I hadn't yet
learned how to
live up to your death.
Topsy-turvy
Unnerves me.
And my Buddhist rock
has turned to dust
and left us to just us.

In Hades, flows the chthonic Styx, a river
of woe and pain (a channel thoroughfare;
where Charon ferries the dead, who despair)
which unnerves our damned souls till we quiver.
The Styx! It's like cirrhosis which kills the liver,
metastasizing there; but does not care;
and tortures us beyond what we can bear!
Because we are thrice-damned, we now shiver
with the peals of the Stygian death-knell;
while Heaven appears like a hope long dead
(as if we’re ten-thousand feet deep in hell!),
here, where the redeemed dare not walk or tread,
we are but ghosts, like shades without a shell:
yet, hell can we brave; but, the Styx we dread.

I HATE how it squeezes
It unnerves and freezes
Blood pounds through the arm
Setting off my alarm
Read her face like a book
(The nurse has that look)
"It's high to the max"
"Just try to relax!"
"You're close to a stroke"
(Lord, I need a smoke)

I would plunge in a raging river
To save a sweet child just like that
Charge a flaming house with no quiver
To rescue some fat scardy-cat
Cause I wouldn't have time to THINK about it
And wind up whining to a SHRINK about it
About how that thing squeezes
How it unnerves and freezes
Feeling blood pump in my arm
Sets off that damn panic alarm
I can read her face like a book
The nurse with a disgusted look
"It's high to the max
Would you just please relax?
You're close to a stroke"
(Lord, I need a smoke)
'Doc throw a left hook and just DECK me
Or shoot me with drugs and THEN check me'
Okay, I'm a coward, big deal!
Guess I ain't nobody's hero
So why when they're done do I feel?
My ego-gauge plummet to zero?

Alone with you
the world fades away
as you hold me
so closely
tender lips against my ear
whispering sweet somethings
burn me with their heat
and your voice
deep with desire
ignitites me
dissolves me
and I am gone
lost to everything
but the music we make
and growing need
turning urgent
overtaking me
until I'm pleading for you
to close the distance that lies between us
and my shudder unnerves you
as you are sharing in my wealth
nestled in my warmth
taking me over
until I'm singing
sweet praises to heaven
and you join me at its gate
sweet lullaby of joy surrounds us
rocking us gently to sleep
when we are alone
