I Am Unmarried Edited

Parody of :
Im nobody! Who are you?
by Emily Dickinson

Original Poem

I'm nobody! Who are you?
Are you nobody, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd advertise -- you know!

How dreary to be somebody!
How public like a frog
To tell one's name the livelong day
To an admiring bog!

I'm unmarried! Who are you?
Are you unmarried, too?
Then there's a pair of us -- don't tell!
They'd force us-- you know!

How dreary to be married
To spend money on family
To be responsible livelong day
Let's live for self and enjoy!

To a Spinster

Let me emphasize why they criticise :
Such boundless lassitude, lover hater.
Paltry commitments get one scrutinized.
On a questioning spree with that hipster.
That hostile face, in joy or in sorrow.
Merry miser, buy compliments as much
O! Pitiful spinster, don't you borrow.
Nagging like a meemaw, fretful as such.
Why would you write a self panegyric?
The entire world calls you a cynic.
Hope, love and pain, The Holy Trinity
Might help you get back your gone sanity.
Ponder upon the things you were given,
Shed evils away and welcome Heaven.

Death Sea Unmarried

Waves sometimes like Wives
To rise and to fall again and again
Violating the law of peace
Death Sea opted to be silent and a bachelor

Unmarried

Maybe he utters promises in the name of the Lord
But unwilling to bind the matrimonial cord
You may be his resting place
But you are not his home.
Maybe he stares at you with passion
But you are not the one he's looking for
Yet he can't say it-- "farewell" or "shalom!"
You may be treated as a princess
But he is searching for a queen
Maybe he dries those tears
But he never lets you lend his ears
You may always be comforted
But you aren't his resting place
When he wants peace of mind in solace
Is that how you want to be treated?

Premium MemberHappily, Unmarried

It started at a place called Joe,
An anonymous encounter that,
Who knew it would be many years,
It would be,
Before I would tarnish my halo.

We spawned a little girl,
A prodigy many would say,
Who gets more amazing,
Day-after-day.

Then our paths diverged,
On many issues, we disagreed
Now sadly I must say,
We are happily, unmarried.

Alone and Unmarried

God gave me a dream one night,
this dream was more of a vision.
In this vivid dream I was rather panicked,
everyone I knew was getting married,
everyone but me that is.
The men in this dream were all dressed
in black tuxedos, the ladies were dressed
in beautiful dresses, not all of those dresses
were pure white... symbolic? maybe.
So here I was with no one to call my own.
A bit sad, I was compelled to look up.
A bright, gentle light was located right above
my head, its warmth reached out and
embraced me.
Observing the light, I told the married couples
that I was married to God.
Some of these couples seemed to admire me greatly.
God loves and takes care of me, yet I often take that
special love for granted.
I know it's hard to be a single person during this day
and age, but just look at all the work that needs
to be done!
The love of God is joyfully being placed above all else
and all others in my life.
My eternal reward is truly with me.

Happily Unmarried

.

A lady in our parish asked my good and true friend, a Priest,
"Being unmarried, aren't you lonely at the least?"
He smiled and said, " No I'll tell you why, because,
I'd much rather be lonely...... than wish I was!"
