Uninviting Poems | Examples

Memory of death

Once sanctuary.
The uninviting undertones bellow in mourning.
A soured fate.
They say the deads sleep is endless, as my toll chimes, wakeless.
Still unsighted eyes.
With sickly bloodshot yolk, cresting as if to rise reborn.
Tarnishing sleek silvered rumination, in anniversary of the best forgotten.
Another empty plot fills a space better kept for the rigid, the disciplined.
Hands worn of time for nothing other than keeping bones wrapped.
In unbound duty, spreading dirt, not to cover but expose.
Treadless stepping over and over the ghosts trampled in greater haste.
Who's borrowed words are sung as tribute, in service striking back in self reverence.
Now hollowed breath exhumed.
To treat a lasting patron, the unintroduced, bares the yet collected as for tolled is all.
Reserving another debt to be owed in exchange.
They march with purpose they march for purpose, not in step.
Peace will never reclaim them, for they know not peace.
Sleep remains a wistful dream.
Not to be conquered.

They Said To Me

They said I woke up at 9:32 am.
I know better than them.
I last slept…
Back when there were dinosaurs.
They spoke to me in groans, and screeches.

They said breakfast will be served.
They like to do that everyday.
There was food in front of me.
But I just sat there, staring.
The toast was lively.
I didn’t know toast could have energy.
I wish I did too.

They said the doors would open up.
Outside, there is a fence.
So I stayed inside.
Away from fences and horrible sunshine.
A sun which sneaks through the gaps.
Is uninviting to me.

They said I should eat lunch.
They said I should eat dinner.
They said there would be bedtime.
They said the sun would set.

The lights went out.
I’m still cold.
They said I need to sleep.
Breakfast is tomorrow morning.
They never lie.
I will never die.
The lights go out at 9:00 pm.
And it wears on me.

The Road You Choose To Travel

Two roads of life
You travel are there
Nothing change but the same
Only you have to choose
Which one to go through
One is wide and inviting
The other is narrow and uninviting
The wide road many has chosen
The other is less traveled
That only few has found it
The inviting road start with happiness
But end in a bottle-neck rage and destruction
The less traveled road start lonely
But forward they go the road became wide
Soon after this road background turn beautiful
Air is crispy fresh and colorful trees appear
Colorful fragrant flowers you see everywhere
They see some also travel as they passed by
At last the hearts found excitement and relief
As soon as they see the finishing line at the end.

Broken Vow

The stars won't shown tonight
The world is closed
In pitch darkness
The day you broke me.

The flowers in the field
Is gloomy to my eyes
Uninviting, disturbing
The day you quit.

The sunset turn red
A bloody beauty to me
Angry feeling creep in
Since the day you left.

Dark room

In this pitch black night ,
Hovers my own thoughts,
Dark and burdened,
Exhausting to the soul ,
And acceptable to the spirit.

This dark room aligns with my emotions,
lifeless and d hopeless,
Dull and uninviting ,
Like the starless sky on a winter night,
And like moonless sky in summer.

Swayed by emotions,
My feet move towards a thorny path ,
Falling into a pit,
A pit of no return,
Where emotions are trapped by the mind ,
And controlled by the heart,
A place where despair reigns over,
And fear ceases to exist,
For it had already broken down my walls,
And walked over what was left of my will.

Premium MemberUndone

Then I said, Woe is me! for I am undone; ...
Isaiah 6:5, King James Bible

UNDONE, a very uninviting condition to be in.
Whatever the other status, position, or purity,
it bodes to be better than 'UNDONE'. But how
does the 'Undoing' come to be? Is there a face-off
with some other entity that renders our ruination,
our despicable being, by coming in contact with us
or we with it? At any rate, there is indeed an
enlightenment that shines upon the reality of
our lack of light or inadequacy, shocking us,
and revealing what we really are. UNDONE.

Premium MemberThe Dream

He spotted the building in passing

So strange

It was the building in his dream

The little round windows

Even the flower beds

The gargoyles looking down, so frightening he thought

That strange looking door

So medieval, uninviting

He remembered in his dream

The hidden pathway

Leading to the tunnel into the house

Waiting patently for the man to appear

Feeling tense when he did

He woke with a jolt

Wiping the sleep from his eyes

Looking around, wondering

The clock frowned

Time was on the move

It was at the news-stand

Where he noticed it

The headline flyer

With the words standing out

Prominent politician assassinated

So strange

It was just exactly like his dream.

Premium MemberWriting a Jueju

Looked at Jueju form online
Don't know if I'll have the time
Maybe I can write just one
Only four lines then I'm done

Rain stopped, now creek swiftly flows
The wind got up, howling blows
Chill 'pon air uninviting
Now about it, I'm writing

I know, this is not correct
Syllables I should've checked
Maybe studied in detail
Don't run me off on a rail

Gaze into deep, dark waters
How many share its quarters
Should I join them in deep cold
Never! I am not that bold

Premium MemberSpring Is Never Far Off

Listen as the wind whispers
secrets of my lost past.
It howls at my melancholy miseries,
shrieks at my heinous sins,
warning me of a fatal future
that is sure to be my looming last.

My destiny lies in my hands
as I linger in indecision
with your shadow in my heart.
For I cannot stop loving you
I cannot live a normal life
I hunger for food of love,
Only I can find none.

Whither shall I go?
The future is dark and uninviting.
My past is filled with fear,
my present is full of sorrow.
I think of you and my starved heartbeats
in dangerous arterial fibrillation.
I close my eyes in anguished hope
but cannot calm my tattered nerves
as the wind continues with its howls
for winter is sure to extend its days
although I believe and sincerely hope
that sublime spring is coming soon.

Premium MemberI Come Before You I Come In Peace

I come before you, but you won’t be listening;
I come across uninviting, not convincing;
Yet you alone are combatant and unraveling;
Your temperament is passivating, resonating;

I come in peace
I come in peace
I offer up the Olive Branch
I increase my hand shake, putting pressure
I’ve learned those lessons in love
I offer up the Olive Branch in joy above

I stand before you, offering those treasures trues;
I come before you, a soldier of peace
Standing here without shoes on my feet
Because I’ve giving you my shoes and a soul, filled in love

From the Father

I come in peace
I come in peace
I offer up the Olive Branch
I increase my hand shake, putting pressure
I’ve learned those lessons in love
I offer up the Olive Branch in joy above
I offer up the Olive Branch in joy in love
I offer up the Olive Branch in joy in love

Premium MemberDizains and Triolets

Dizains and triolets are somewhat similar,
Although triolets are a tiny bit slimmer
And I must admit, the triolet is repetitive
While the dizain rhymes are competitive.
I am inclined to write these poetry forms
Because they follow rather strict norms,
And force upon me discipline in writing,
When the thoughts I have are uninviting.
And when I cannot apply either, or worse,
I tend to slip over and employ free verse.

Premium MemberMy New Home

Threadbare, uninviting, almost claustrophobic,
And cold. I could not afford heat.
I put on the lights and felt an icy solitude.
No home sweet home for me.
Would I get attuned to my new apartment?

Lonely, I ate my packed tasteless food quickly,
changed into a cosy track suit, switched off the lights
and went to bed hoping for pleasant elusive dreams.
Suddenly melodic tunes infiltrated my slumber.
I wake. Upstairs someone must love old time songs.
Like a somnambulant I climb the stairs and knock.
She was like a mirage, shimmering in the haze of a desert.
Silently she beckoned me inside the warm room.
My name is Angel, she whispered. And the dance began,
Until tired, the haze of the desert enveloped me too.

Much later I woke.
I was in my bed. Was it a dream? Probably.
The landlord said the upper flat was empty still,
But to be occupied that day, Someone called Angel.
That night I did not sleep, but waited for the music to start.

Premium MemberMy Bucket List

I shall not travel up to Alaska, I think,
Where it’s mighty bleak, uninviting, and cold
Nor to South Dakota just to see Mount Rushmore
Where there is no longer any gold, so I am told.
The rest of the fifty I have already seen
So I’m venturing beyond our oceanic shore
To some unfamiliar places in far distant lands
Exotic sites calling to me as never before.
At my age, my bucket list is nearly complete
With two unique locations remaining to visit
Lovely temples and peaceful pastoral scenes
Thailand and Uruguay – not too much to ask, is it?
