Undrained Poems

Different Worlds

suddenly a commotion
a score of gulls screaming
wings flapping, gliding, wheeling
then within half a minute
away into the sky behind the houses
what and why I asked myself
but found no answer, as usual

a pattern of small copses
gaunt, unloved trees, perilously
leaning against each other
roots drowning in pools of muddy water
picture of neglect and decay
and then in their midst
a carpet of bluebells

field of sheep
field of horses
field of crows
field of cows
field of rabbits
field of wood-pigeons
field of barren apple-trees
field of bare earth
field of undrained water
field of hope
field of neglect
fields of Britain

Sour Grapes

What gratitude is of greater reprise,
Appraisal sought within four wall confines.
Yet tests congure my personal demise,
Subpar intelligence is redefined.
Determined only by pure blood descent,
Whose family heritage dominates.
But haste, why linger, such foul discontent,
Saved from years of unethical debate.
Bitter sweet rejection bore new mercies,
Undrained from society's precedent.
To pursue a life without fallicies,
Devoid of tragic human sentiment.
For now, I delight, reap labour's success.
My life is all mine, to live and to rest.

Love In the Moonlight

Love in the Moonlight

Rhinestone studded midnight
weaves its magic thread.
Under silver moonlight,
hearts to love are led.

Burning passions unchained,
we fuse with the sky.
Frenzied, fulfilled, undrained,
in love’s heat, we lie.

Blazing, dazzling, sizzling,
flames of love burn bright.
Sighing softly, fizzling
gently…love's delight.

Under silver moonlight
hearts to love are led.
Rhinestone studded midnight
weaves its magic thread.

Waste Land

The waste land looms in the litany
 The wind makes coming from
The eyeless sockets of dead buildings
Charred by the fire of sudden grief
Brinking the undrained swamp of history.
 Smell the cordite
 Fuming across the sky
 In sinister bands of clouds
 And still upon the shore
Crawling from the limp and placcid water
 Comes the crippled ungospled towards
 A false Jerusalem.

The hollow sounds of hollow men
Blows north to south and back again
Behold the rising in the east
 A new sun
On a spiders web of light
 The west is hypnotized
 Wearied by its many flight
 Its frazzeled brain become bedazzled
Over the thing that was the puzzle
Of myth breakers and king makers
Giving rise to the hollow sound
 Vapid cheer
That knows the end is near
But cannot vacate the fired citadels
 Chained to the charcoal memory
 Of a throbbing Jerusalem.
