   Mona Lisa’s crooked smile
      on a half-crushed Campbell’s Soup can

Joe Dimaggio reciting his pronouns uneasily
      then lowering his batting hand
         into a scalding hot cup
             of ‘Mr. Coffee’

Where have you gone, Mrs. Robinson?
       Where else? to the bathroom
             ~ Hemorrhoids again

Barney Fife whittling Andy’s image to
       sawdust with a rusty pocket-knife
-- contracting tetanus in the process

Andy Warhol grinning madly as the
       word ‘culture’ is finally eliminated
          from America’s lexicon

~ All hail to pink, plastic flamingoes! ~

The Jab

I am somewhat disenchanted by what I’ve seen and read
Antivaxxers believe the lie that soon the vaccinated will be dead
That our leaders are out to get us, dictating what we need
and will decrease the population by deciding how we breed

I’ve heard more twisted theories in my time upon this rock
made so much worse with rumors on you tube and tic tok
I pray that common sense will soon take hold of every friend
Covid 19 is NOT just another virus. Don’t let it be your end

Remember mumps, measles, tetanus and whooping cough
They were cured by science, not a de wormer in a trough
Think of polio, rubella, diphtheria, hepatitis B and A
Thanks to vaccinations, these diseases were kept at bay

This world is full of deadly germs, we make perfect hosts
Please listen to the doctors instead of any ill-informed posts
Life is short, so show respect for the time you’ve got
Think of others, not just yourself. Now go and get your shot!

Vaccinate

Covid 19 on the run now.
We're gonna have tons of fun now.
So long we've had to cope.
Now,finally there's hope.
So, let's not act like dopes.
VACCINATE!
The progress that has been happening.
It is because of the vaccine.
The vaccine is the way.
To see a brighter day.
Don't let it slip away.
VACCINATE!

Diphtheria-Smallpox-Measles-Pertussis.
Vaccines made them hardly exist.
Polio-Mumps-Rubella-Tetanus.
Let's put Covid on that list.

So,people let's be wise.
Yes,vaccines do save lives.
Do not believe the lies.
Please don't wait.
Don't hesitate.
VACCINATE!!

Premium MemberSpore Soup Anyone

Come on over and have some spore soup, she said.
If I ate that stuff, I knew I would be quickly dead.
I had already had surgery on my foot, it was a tumor.
A spore had been the cause of it, that’s no rumor.

I pictured that soup with a dead foot floating around.
It would have blood gushing from it, turning red brown.
I saw the toenails, they were ugly, jagged, and crusty.
I am stepping on a nail tonight, I told her. And it is all rusty.

Can’t you step on the nail some other time? She asked me.
No, and then I have to have a tetanus shot. Sorry, Aunt Bee.
My husband rolled his eyes and told me how awful I was, after that.
But he did not see that sawed off foot floating in the soup vat.

Premium MemberBloody Hell

I don’t want to see you inside this house
Unless your foot has fallen off or you are bloody
Does a bloody nose count?
Hell no.

What if a blood eating vampire eats my face off?
That could be a good thing because you would be silent.
Wow.
Mother of the year here.

We looked at each other for about two seconds before we thought of it.
She opened the door and said “And don’t go into that old shed!”
Damn.
This ruined things

Not so fast, my cousin Hankie said. I know a secret way in.
So she won’t see us? I asked.
I don’t think she can, he said.
Hankie was always full of bloody good ideas.
This time was not one of them.

We ended up scratching ourselves up as we climbed in the broken window
Hankie was screaming bloody murder as she drove him away
to get a tetanus shot
Because he had landed on a rusty nail.
Bloody hell!

Premium MemberDecember, December

December, December,
No lawns to be mowed,
How grateful am I,
For the fact that it snowed.

No weeds that need pulling,
No trimming the trees,
No flowers need planting,
No tetanus disease.

No lovebirds are singing,
No flowers' bright show,
No butterflies bringing,
A colorful glow.

No garden to harvest,
No strawberry pie,
No rocket's red glare,
On the fourth of July.

July and December,
Which month is the best?
I think I'll take April,
And skip all the rest!

Premium MemberHow I Feel About Lakes and Rivers

Rivers and lakes flowing gladly
Around dead things deep down inside
Dead cans, dead fish, dead bodies
I cannot fathom it, and yet I can.

My friend Kim said that her boat got caught up once
It felt like they were dragging something heavy with their tow rope
It felt like they were dragging a car, until it loosened itself
A man’s body was found a day later in that lake

I can barely eat fish, knowing they are eat dead things
Dead things is what I think about when I look into the dark murky waters
Thinking that you could step on a rusty fishhook at any second
And have to have a tetanus shot. Rivers and lakes. Someone else’s dessert.

The Junk Pile

THE JUNK PILE

                             By Jerry May

Orange with rust and gray with weathered
worn decay,
the heap behind the shed has seen it’s useful better days.
Every discarded piece of junk layered in the miscellaneous maze,
once was brand new and factory fresh before it was forgotten and left to lay.

The underpinning of the pile an umbrella used only once and left deployed,
Borrowed from grandpa's car and carefreely turned into a toy.
The spines skewered the spokes of a girl's birthday wish now destroyed,
consequently peddled to pieces to see a cute neighbor boy.

On the rotted pink bike an essential portal of almost every day,
when growing town was more than walking distance away.
An old hand painted mailbox now uprooted and discarded into the maze,
now a comfortable home for spiders and mice to play and live during the day.

There a mix of assorted wire, wood and metal violated with corroded nails and screws,
in a snarl of waiting tetanus all serving a purpose or two.
The most recent additions on the heap and a sign of modern times,
an outdated computer and a microwave that the garbage man denied.

Blind Alleys

Saša Milivojev - BLIND ALLEYS

Concrete
Glass
Rain
Gloom
All is withered
Black birds
I’m at the beginning
I’m at the end of the alley
O, Virgin
Please
Every verse I will sing
You genuinely verify
Through new eyes
The remnants of people
I recognise in satyrs
That walk around in metropolises
Using lies and cheating
Adorning themselves with others’ merits
Fighting with hidden horns
The remnants of people I recognise
In rabid cats
That lurk and bite
In blind alleys
At pharmacies
In discotheques
At desks and hotels
In exclusive restaurants
In theatres and on screens
Tetanus for the body
While the soul is rolling
Like a ball on the concrete
Wild sex
Opiates and gandbangs
Whips and feet
And blow-up dolls
Business
Prostitutes
Innocent girls
All along the alley
We nourish predators
And see nothing when they catch their prey

Grabbed hold of Wildebeest’s tail
Punctured it on a rusty nail
Big loud tetanus shot
Apologized through the mail
Afraid of beast by his wail
He was pretty hot

Premium MemberAugust Crickets

Dark moon day of August
I stepping on a nail
hospital tetanus shot
I draw Kenaz from my Rune bag

Sitting out at night
First time crickets sing
Starry sky's Milky Way
Two shooting stars see me

My black cat runs by
Dog howls down the road
Forest spirits are afoot
Really too much magic

So Alone

Lost and alone so far away,
Down and out with nothing to say.
Wondering if this will always be,
Wandering far from this, very me.

Gazing ahead, stillness as dead,
Wanting to just, be set free.
Faint and unsteady, shifting sand,
Reaching out, to Heaven with hand...

Yet, so alone...

Hoping to gain satisfaction from rain,
and finding nothing more than wetness.
Seeking past memories with weakening grasp,
Maybe I'd rather endure tetanus.

Having teeth pulled or re-socket a bone,
Scraping a chalkboard or being alone...
Loneliness is inside of one's heart,
In time, no healing, just tearing apart...

And... so alone...

Better Skip Breakfast

Sweet morning sunshine --
Damn you how I
despise this labor
that lies ahead.

The cousin of Grizzly Adams’
patiently waits with the
ancient white pickup truck
he ran me over with while I slept.

Off we go with the toolbox
dancing in the bed and it’s a band
of pots and pans, the opening act for
our weapons of mass construction.

Murph says he’s a team player,
although I don’t recall a sport
 consisted of getting wasted
and having shameful sex.

He grumbles and curses about
the day ahead hung-over with
his perfume from the distillery and
gum he must’ve marinated in an ashtray.

We better do some stretching
before the circus begins—
watch me as I carry an elephant
up the twenty year old ladder.

From two stories above I witness
the war forming between
old rusty nails and the tiny,
soft green blades that stand no match.

The ground has become a grave
of tetanus but the old umbrellas
we toss down from the house
cover up the battlefield.

(To Be Continued)...
