Reading a poem about a horse
with a stain
on the author’s page. Patron

ate something saucy,
as he read of a war statue,
forking or spooning

probably pasta or slurping
poetry, precariously, I ponder,
as I wait for the oven timer

to deliver dinner.  Deviled
ham quiche - the aesthetic

A statue is standing in the road. The center of town.

A stone. An outcast, watching the world around them. A silent spectator.

Empty are the complexes. Apartments galore.
Empty are the woods. The nests and caves.

At the park, there’s a man built of black stone
He stands shamed with an indifferent rifle that yawns at the sky
His stallion is frozen in gallop, to be forever majestic
In the sweltering day, the man stands
In the shivering day, he finds no reprieve

Lore tells; that an anchor dropped at the edge of the raven’s ocean
And

like a statue

his fluffy tail stands straight up
like his ears when he sees me
like a statue, he sits perfectly still
I tiptoe away, so he can eat berries in peace
he begins chasing his brother around tree

Statue of Lost Liberty

Unlike her eastern twin of the ocean,
she’ll shed no tear for the lost and alone.
No emotion for the wretched masses, 
because her heart shall be as hard as stone.

In her fist she’ll carry no bright beacon,
to call those huddled masses to her shore.
She’ll tower above a locked iron gate,
no golden path stretched out before her

An angel of wood
Facing his summer garden 
Of flowers and birds 
Which he grew from his own mouth
Without a mind to observe

Wrapped up as a present,
delivered to a new home.
Inside of its own wrap
she wanted to be shown.

       She stands up there,
proud of herself.
She looks everywhere,
to welcome the new future.
