Eternal Flame

Beneath the sky so vast and wide,
A restless soul, a storm inside.
Chasing dreams no hands can hold,
A hunger fierce, a story told.

Not fear, nor pain, nor fleeting doubt,
Could dim the fire or snuff it out.
Through shadowed paths, where few will tread,
A voice within my heart has said:

"Press on, for life is but a spark,
A fleeting flame against the dark.
But should you fight, and should you strive,
Eternity will keep you alive."

So I rise, through loss, through gain,
Through joy, through sorrow, love, and pain.
With each step forward, I reclaim,
The endless dream, my eternal flame.

Nancy loved her fiancee, Joe,
Until he started to drink too much, so
She told him to change to snuff
Because she had quite enough
Sniff it, Whiff it, Snuff it, GO

Premium MemberHow Can This Be

I ask, dear God, how can this be?
     It rends my soul and stabs my heart!
How could they pass those bills, decree
     these inhumane new rules will start?

It rends my soul and stabs my heart...
     these facts about a choice made law;
these inhumane new rules will start...
     humanity's horrendous flaw.

These facts about a choice made law!
     To kill a life that's near complete;
humanity's horrendous flaw
     to snuff it out...halt its heartbeat!

To kill a life that's near complete
     or one that's fully born...dear God!
To snuff it out...halt its heartbeat...
     a moral breach...till now, untrod.

Or one that's fully born, dear God,
     how could they pass those bills, decree
a moral breach, till now, untrod.
     I ask, dear God, how can this be?

Sun Light and Tantrums

The little boy tends to be ornery
Especially when he is a giant
One who hates light and planets
One who grows out of control
Out of sight with a love of tantrums
And when he throws them look out
Bad things happen around the world
When he stomps Tsunamis come
Earthquakes crumble mountains
Finger nails break in beauty parlors
A cry for mommy and a thumb goes in the mouth
Heard around the world in horror
The little boy grows larger by the hour
Then leaves the planet as it grows tiny
He must live in outer space without his toys
More out of control than ever he gets mad
Then scoops up the sun in his little big cup
Covers it with his hand and screams ouch
Tosses the sun in the nearest cosmic ocean
To snuff it out and stuff and because he can
And because he still hates light and planets
And what they stand for
Tantrums are not very nice
But they are a way of life

I Am Who I Am

I am who I am regardless of who you want me to be
I am finally figuring out what it is to be free
Lose a little weight? No, that's my decision
If I am not who you want, not who you envision
Then there's the door because I'm going to keep on living
I have changed on my own despite the "advice"
I've let go of others opinions, broke free of that vice
I no longer care what hateful, vile, madness you spew
I'll let you talk amongst the grapevine; I've let go of that too
When I decided to move here I thought I had escaped all of the insults
But your house of gossip held every one of my faults
Is that his baby? Your mom is crazy, why are you so lazy? It got to me daily
I've let it wash away with the rain, got rid of the pain, and I've been who I want to be lately
Talk with me deeply, with wisdom and kindness; This I need
No more flames for your fire; Snuff it out I must and I will succeed.

slate

my slate is written on
i’m whole inside
with gaps and things

to please
the imperfect

with dreams sewn on
with seams and borders
zigzag quilt lines frown
and chuckle

they even do battle
exciting thunderclaps
and calming ponds
arise with power
like kingdoms inside

i choose the players
who depress the list
or impress the rest

this slate at birth
unique to me
like a universal star

i can choose
to let it twinkle
or to snuff it out

it’s already planned
it's history

our palettes mix
not every hue
only the ones
you allow
to show

will you let age
refine or deny
or even haze
your vision.

wipers on?
cleaning fluid?
do your glasses clink
against plexiglass?

your slate
your slate
         your slate…

your choice

Premium MemberScrub It

I don't want anything
You can take everything
So I can be free of You
I am not going to do anything any more
Especially anything You say
So You can fluff it, snuff it, or shove it
I have nothing to say to You
Why people think I care when I actually don't care?
What a joke
What a blubber
Now just leave

Wisps

"Friend,
Mind wandering through misty woods.
You don't understand your purpose.
Friend,
I knew you too little,
Please do not shed your salty emotions,
Not out of anger, not out of sadness.
Friend,
You now lose your way so easily,
You sink, you burst, you burn inwardly.
You weep from frustrations,
From the guilt of an honest smile,
From pains, that you forget for a moment,
That come swiftly back to haunt you of your loss.
I understand, dear friend.
You once had a light and the woods seek to snuff it out.
Do not fear, dear friend,
Friend follow me, as I once did you.
Friend, now you see?
Yes, you see,
The little wisps in the fog that guide us home."

To Preach It

To preach it
~~~~~~~~~~
To practice what I preach I must live, although sometimes
It seems a bit hard
Especially when the world is filled with those darkened
souls always ready to push the card
It's easier to hold your tongue in grace than try to ruin another’s
day
But the small, petty, weak of spirit and mind just have to
have their say
Nasty of thoughts possessing hatred of themselves and us
all
When a joyous light appears they seek to snuff it out thus
insuring their eventual fall
Still with words of tolerance and by examples in life I strive and pray
to teach
This goes for all others as well as myself we should always practice
what we preach.
Light
O! take away the LIGHT or
kindly snuff it out.
I'm  residing in this corner and
only through voices  we will know one another.
LIGHT teaches; darkness erases.
My TASK  is still incomplete.
Snuff It
she sits there
just as faded & yellow
sipping iced tea
& he rakes the yard
all of them yellow
& faded & dead.
they know to end it
before the worst had set in.
they don’t sit in lawnchairs
through november with bronzer spread
& romance novels staring at
old men while they rake leaves
they see the autumn
& they snuff it
this great example right
in front of him &
he rakes leaves
looking for the highest branch
he could jump from.
