Cold spell
Wrap well.
Bare trees
No leaves.
Snow storms
Ice forms.
Blizzard
Hazard.
Cold toes
I'm froze.
On snow
Drive slow.
Black ice
Think twice.
Don't roam
Stay home.
Mulled wine
Divine.
Downhill
Ski thrill.
Sky Grey
Dark day.
On sleigh
Kids play.
White snow
Bright glow.
Springs near
Big cheer.

In frosty silence,
silver light laces the sky
Careless time candles
cast a cosmic canvas—
flicker flutters in fathomless fizz!
Kids' laughter rings through wild elixir
as birds capture lost melodies!
The globe is quiet.
Twilight reveals its heartbeat.
Stone cradles murmur of beginnings
not the reign of kings.
A velvety night settles.
Every soul learns.
Hope's sighting.
SNOWGLOBE MEMORIES Poetry Contest

There's a snowglobe catching my eye,
a Hallmark moment, up in the sky,
I dream of a White Christmas gone by,
up where the stars shine bright,
and where dreams never die.
There's a cabin covered in snow ...
little kids playing toe to toe,
smoke billows from the chimney top,
a snowman dancing to the bebop.
I'm chasing my reverie with steins of beer,
fostering the pub, and my nightly cheer.
As the snow furries circle the globe,
watching sadly is a lonesome dear.
The jukebox pours its last song of the night,
into a cup of lost dreams that never took flight.
Homemade ice cream made from snow
As white as the flakes in a snow globe
Tastes so good despite the cold
Chilling our lips tongue and nose
Grinning not always winning snowball fights
Dressed for warmth not wanting to go inside
Our weenie dog Jhat short only so high
Snow covered fur all up to his eyes
Playing with neighbors kids from the block
Having energy that seems never to stop
Watching dad shovel snow from the driveway
He never seems to mind that all we do is play
Snowflakes fall in a pattern of their own
Painting us all as we sing sleigh songs
The beauty of the snow painting from clouds
We will always remember it as if it is now
Driving along steel on the road
look in the mirror
salt falls from my load
Moving just as swift as I can
Look at me
I'm the snow plow man
Snow piles high as it moves off my plow
push back corners
the kids scream WOW
working round the clock all through the night
Clearing the roads
With determination an might
Road to road as fast as I can
Look at me
I'm the snow plow man
a quick snow,
Georgia awaits,
unless
a cloud breaks shell,
lambasting with lace.
outlandish
wake up…
rubbing eyes;
genie
grants wishes
to school kids.
parents a-salt-ing,
shove and shovel of flakes,
when
balls of snow attack.
Tinkle of chime, of time, of blizzard blast.
The kids are off and hope for snow to gush.
The skies are scanned with hopeful overcast.
Return to school where teachers rule and crush?
The teachers lie, they’re paycheck low - want snow.
Attention scowl would pass with gassy clouds.
An arctic blast would cause their cheeks to glow;
Call buses fast, and cheer the plucky crowds.
The tender swirl of flakes, pug noses pressed
against the icy breath of Jack Frost’s muse.
The bump and toss, the smudge of Winter’s zest.
Imaginations clip, as yellows cruise.
Angels, in divine white, do flap each wing.
Their mirthful shake upon the earth’s offspring.
New Chance with Pleiades for the New Year - Revised Description Poetry Contest

Six inches fell that night
Snow-cover made for skiers
Silvery white snowflakes
Swirling in slow cadence
Several kids woke up
Saw the glistening hills
Snow chasers left the house
It is snowing! It is snowing! It is SNOWING!
Three children I usually have to drag out of bed are heading for the front door.
I say “don’t forget your bookbags! Don’t you want breakfast?”
Mom, it’s SNOWING! Says the middle one. No school. Right?
I begin to laugh. This is Minnesota. We don’t cancel school here.
An abdominable snowman could be eating busloads of kids,
we would not cancel.
An avalanche could bury six cars on the school road.
We would not cancel.
MINNESOTA I remind them.
We used to live in California where they would cancel school for rain.
They begin grumbling, put their pajamas on, and try to feign illness.
Too late, I say. I saw how fast you got dressed and got those sleds out.
I hear grumbling all the way to the bus where other kids are yelling “Snow!”
The snow is still coming down extremely hard
Snowmen are springing up almost in everyone's yard
Schools have decided to close giving the kids a snow day
My driveway will have to wait, the family insists it is time to play
The snowballs are being prepared for the fight that is about to ensue
The adults versus children, our strategy is rapid-fire , they won't know what to do
That tactic was a complete failure as arms tired so very fast
As to who eventually won the fight, do you have to ask
Next up toboggan races on a big hill out back
Once again disaster strikes we have lost so many races, I have lost track
Our day of family fun has finally come to an end
Oh I almost forgot that driveway I have to shovel still awaits, my aching body I can't pretend
snow
no more
warmer days
birds are singing
squirrels scampering
pretty flowers blooming
kids playing and having fun
lawn mowers are humming away
looks like spring has sprung into color
spring is the very best time of the year
Jack frost dances on my window
With fancy snowflakes as white as snow
Falling with grace on the brown trees
Painting black lace that is a street
We all take cover from the wind
Blowing the lovers making snow angel friends
Side by side on snowy white ground
Despite the chill no one has a frown
Sleet and ice on the lake
Where you find kids at play
They throw snowballs and ice skate
Winter wonderland is this place
Winter sun is yellow gold
Making mud run of melting snow
And Carolina clay is frozen hill
Where kids sled and play at will
Frosted sky with cotton cloud
In the eye of guy driving snow plow
He’s hard at work while we all play
All school kids search for snowy days

Gray sky
High cry
It flakes
Snowflakes
To crawl
In fall
Landscape
Reshape
White sheets
Such treats
All time
Kids mime
Some sled
The spread
Some glide
On side
Ice fields
Reveals
Snowballs
No walls
Such cheer
Is dear
Sweaty
Dainty
The snow keeps falling, it doesn’t want to stop
Covering the trees from bottom to top
A blanket of beauty, but the roads are a risk
Not great for driving in the air so brisk
Shoveling is tiring, as the snow lands fast
But, great fun for kids who want to have a blast
The snow keeps falling, forecasters were wrong
Will it be the same Wednesday with next storm to come along?
