Goodbye July, it’s been so fun
With your longer days and hot sun
Now we must part ways, it’s time
To welcome in August this summertime
August will be special and sublime
With its long dog days and just in time
And will bring us special summer gifts
As the days shorten and the climate shifts
The summer fairs will soon begin
with many rides, food and games to win
Kids will beg to go there to eat and play
A rite of summer that’s here to stay
Hummingbirds will be out to score
Before leaving again to fuel up more
Beautiful hydrangeas will bloom until fall
It will soon be the end of summer for us all

Germans replacement for Coca Cola
WW II band coke syrup, needed new soda
So Germans made Fanta brand
Hitler loved it born by his command
When war was over Coke found out
Fanta was theirs and used their clout
To fold Fanta into the Coca Cola brands
and brought it home to USA land
Fanta for fantastic shorten name

This New Jerusalem with towers made of glass
Shines dazzling bright upon the old satanic mills
Cloned Holy Lamb with mouth full of grass
Looks picturesque on the background of green hills
Let’s stop to take some selfies smiling silly
Let’s shorten to one line the past time lives
The future’s here, and exactly as was willing
This New Jerusalem reflects in our eyes
We common mortals do not really matter
It’s fine by us to stay behind the scenes
While VIPs are doomed to sing the old libretto
We improvise, to hear the grinding of those mills.
He does not arrive
he claims the horizon.
The wind forgets its wandering
when his breath passes through it,
trees stiffen mid-whisper,
and dust, once arrogant in motion,
bows into stillness.
There is a weight to his silence
not emptiness,
but the crowded hush of command,
as though the earth itself
waits for permission to turn.
Muscle coils beneath a cloak of gold dusk,
each step a verdict,
each pause a question
no creature dares to answer wrongly.
He is not noise
noise is what follows him.
A trembling in marrow,
a ripple through the unseen threads
that stitch fear into flesh.
He does not chase dread
dread runs ahead,
announcing him in broken rhythms.
Even shadows hesitate
before touching him.
Even time, bold and tireless,
seems to shorten its stride
when he stands.
For power is not in the strike alone,
nor in the teeth of ending
it is in the knowing
that ending can arrive,
swift as a thought,
final as dusk.
And so the plains remember him
long after he has passed
in bent grass,
in held breath,
in the quiet confession of the living:
Some forces are not seen
only felt,
like thunder before it speaks.
I introduce myself as Douglas
some immediately shorten it to Doug
Should I just accept their choice
and metaphorically bury it beneath a rug
Politely I request a favour
would you please use my full name
There has been two or three resist
they don't want to play my game
One day I met a man called Les, abbreviated my name from his lips it came
When I asked my favour he described me as pedantic
So I asked if I could call him Lesley his full given name
not at all, it raised his ire, an interesting semantic
Is the name I prefer to choose,
my expectation, perhaps a bit too romantic ?
One day it was revealed and it made me realise
that when I'm seen running I must have a loping plodding style
So the locals dubbed me Draft horse well that really made me smile
What really matters that if you abbreviate my surname you'll come up with Gill
If you address me in a loving way that will fill the bill
The harbingers of hesitation
Slow with time’s tenacity
Stifle the urge to grasp the moment
Shorten the length of memory’s grasp
Weaken the touch of today’s meaning
Soft raindrops unfelt on leathered skin
Sunshine hints at a forgotten warmth
That fevered longing for a faded shadow
A dream held in the cooling darkness
The lunar ice cloud draws but a silent shiver
Etched into the edge of a frozen moment
Its stars the un-melted tears of lover’s longings
I am not the one
Who made the
Planet earth
It was God
I am not the one who
Built your house
It was the builder
I am not the one
Who gave you life
It was God
And have you thanked God
For giving you life
When you prayed for him
Yes you have a good life
So live it every day to the
Fullest
If you have health you have
Everything
Friends I am afraid to
Lose you
Any day that God will
Shorten your life
So please continue to life your
Life to the fullest
Because life is a beautiful
Gift that God gave you
And also he had created you
With his holy hands
Many years ago
AIso, God is your Father
And you are all his children
You also need to take good care
Of your health
I write a lot of four-liners, though
I don’t lack for ideas or rhymes
My number one problem
No one taught me
~ Shorten your lines
Winter has its dull days
when the weather turns itself off,
but then there are the bone-cracking gales
and the few bright days
when the sun runs across the snow.
Slowly long hours will shuffle out of their daydreams,
Soon, goose-grey skies will learn to fly again.
With any luck, tell-tale breezes
will flirt with summer skirts,
and I may be there to witness
my own revival.?
KWANZAA FOCUS FOR TODAY:
NIA
Being navigators,
Let’s continue railwaying
God’s divine wisdom:
Navigating the journey
To the Dream’s reality:-
In divine guidance,
Let’s shorten the destiny
To our long journey:
Earlier, pulling into
Our liberation’s station:-
Thus, be our purpose;
Praise God for our ancestors,
Who with less did more:
Leaving us with less to do
In gaining full liberty:-
earth and moon conspire
to shorten the days
will we even notice
Earth is expected to spin more quickly in the coming weeks, making some of our days unusually short. On those days the position of the moon is expected to affect Earth's rotation so that each day is between 1.3 and 1.51 milliseconds shorter than normal.

I am not verbose, I am laconic,
at most, I shorten the poem,
I diminish the lie,
I stabilize the truth,
I am a minimalist poet!
No one turns in their grave,
so, Irene I will turn for you.
I will turn this final page,
turn all those love-lights out
that I have kept bright
for these many decades.
Turn off the flow of love letters
that,
though never written,
I did indeed, scribe upon the dark,
dead-eyed nights.
Graves thrive on the marrow of lovers.
I have imagined you and I
both decaying in our own ways.
Now the days shorten Irene,
now toothless shadows bite at my soul.
Will you get to see me as I was Irene,
or will every mirror shatter
that we ever looked through?
Damn Irene, even the sky misses you.
Will this threadbare longing ever end,
or will my mind at last
run dry of this
all but invisible ink!
under this southern sky we all should adore
for this land has never burned with any war.
our life has always been one that is free
free from dictatorship...free from tyranny.
under the southern cross we show our true pride
from the desert plains to beyond the great divide.
under the blazing sun we play, work, sweat and toil
say "she`ll be right" when life spins with great turmoil.
our way is to add O or IE to many shorten words
to outsiders it must sound off beat...so absurd.
our friends we call every bad word under the sun
no offence taken...they know it`s only a bit of fun.
" `ken oath, he`s a drongo" a true blue knows what that means
from Tassie to the Territory...and everywhere in between.
coooee cobber...fair dinkin` your such a galah
we shouted out from our beat up holden car.
whether at a BBQ or down by the sea
it's an ice cold tinny for you...and for me.
our flag is one flown on flag poles oh so high
one we should respect...show our one true pride.
so let's all come together and be as one
in this land...under...the southern sun.
