Winter Drops Hints

winter drops
hints
in the pre-dawn
hours
slick surfaces
frost-covered
windshields
last night's
drunks
frozen stiff
carted off
to the morgue

Red Pill

Red Pill

Date: Tue, Jan 12 2016 at 9:06 PM

Took the Red Pill
So the Truth was Revealed
Red Eyes Blood Filled
Blood Spilled
Cause the Truth Opened the Windshields
Of my Eyes from the Iris
The Virus Was Killed

Ahh Choo Haiku

Dark skies prevailing
Rain puddles icing over
Jack Frost clamping down

Sweaters change to coats
Canopies falling like snow
Crystals flake windshields

Arctic winds howling
Blizzard skating upon us
Prepare to shovel

Mustaches frozen
Watery eyes show the chill
Sore noses galore

Flower Bomb

Flower Bomb

The smell
of Gunpowder fills the air
with an aroma
Unbearable.
Faces are covered with t-shirts and bandanas,
objects are thrown
and windshields are smashed.
Only one is willing
to forgo violence.
Instead of a rock,
or an empty glass bottle,
a bundle of flowers is clenched
in his hand:
Ready, aim,
Fire.

Crosswalks

I hear crosswalk signals in my dreams

their constant metered pace is comforting
the command to wait always a touch too brazen

they never change though
-the signals-
they give the same tired palm reading

I take the hint and wave to cars passing by

I can’t see anything but the sun
reflecting off their tinted windshields

To a Young Tribal Lady Seen From the Bus

O why do you walk through the green fields,
Are you looking for something special?
O young tribal lady don't you need any windshields?
Why do you walk through the green fields,
Is it for the purposes of agricultural yields?
Why are you shivering?
O why do you walk through the green fields,
Are you looking for something special?

Winter Weather

winter weather coming strong

covering the ground all over town

slipping and sliding

soft cushion for the falling

white snow

bare trees

iced over windshields

frozen cars

what beautiful weather for the common cold

sneezing, coughing, runny nose

scratchy throat, an earache or two

these are the pleasures of winter weather

Lovebugs Aka Honeymoon Flies

lovebugs has taken on a new meaning
now that I live in Jacksonville, Florida
where honeymoon flies congregate
in hundreds or should I say millions?
flying in tandem, like two-headed weirdos
smashing against car windshields at tremendous speeds
kamikaze pilots, which would be okay
if their acidic dead bodies did not take paint and chrome off our cars

Winter Overload

Winter bought rights to long life ~ in command
of blizzards, ice storms, unusable roads.
Iced windshields, snowmen--whatever's on hand.
Heat overuse caused great melt overload.
Alas, Winter thawed--and found he'd been snowed.

~Snowed, in this sense, means overwhelmed with lies,
taken advantage of~

Stuck In the Rain

Dodging raindrops
like bullets
like sheets
glass shatters
as it downpours
on this old General Store

Tin roof tinking
in mud
feet sinking
flowers in pots
old rinky dink carts
waiting for a jump start
hiding in the car

A stranger watches from afar
the phone rings and rings
a distant bird sings
rain pelting windshields
staring at green fields
someone stops
finally
some help

Day's Window Narrows

Day's window narrows
the sun now fleet of foot
bolts from yesterday's darkness
heads toward the jaws of today's

Frost decorates windshields
drivers lick their breath as they swear
bare branches shiver, some to snap
  brown patches, meadow's outerwear

Pale orb sinks below the horizon
no colors linger, no twilight show
Night's deep shadows overcome you
white of winter too soon come to woo

Casual Encounter

Starless sky
Two fire-flies
Drunk and high
Waltzed while no one watched.

Eye locked and pandering
they just can't stand it,
to leave well enough alone,
situations facing malevolent half-tones.

Skating on ice
in the form of her name
tracing the ups and downs
we fell through again.

I'm alone
Not really; all gone.
Have crayons to write notes,
scribed on the windshields

next to the morning-jar faces.

Flowers

FLOWERS

Bluebells sing of jolly spring days
In damp fields with sparkling rills
And the scented blue haze
Filling our nostrils

Hidden in bunches of daffodils in rooms
Are cemetery visits to make the stones neat
And replace spent plastic blooms
Wilting in the heat

Chauffeur-driven car and chrysanthemums
Suggest weddings with expensive foods
And speeches and photo albums
And windshields ribboned to hoods.

Car Crash Lovers

Two bodies hanging from annihilated cars
Collided hearts
Crashed at the lips
Creating daydreams with the impact of their fingertips
Worlds bleeding onto the jagged spears of shattered windshields
Love forming on the merged, crumpled hoods; Love the bodies can't feel
A marriage in death
Exchanging vows in silent breath
You may kiss the bride, the stranger
Upon this altar of a devastated Pontiac Grand Prix and a mangled Jeep Wrangler

fear of mirrors hair balloons and paperclips

There are more phobias than you would believe
Some have names, others are a one-of-a-kind nameless fear
People have fear of werewolves, rats, snakes, and ghosts
Fear of long words, mirrors, hair, balloons, paper clips
Fear of belly buttons, vegetables, windshields, flashlights,
I try to see if there is a fear of baths; yes, there is.
Some of these fears might seem unrealistic and strange to you
Until you develop the same fear.

Rose Tinted Windshields

Quicksand caught generation epoch, restless whirring of a drill in the dust. Zenith of color shifts saturation to none, black and white film on video cassette. Ensnared in a cage lowering to molten, hourglass is losing sand to run dry. Eyes fixate to the sunny horizon, flicker dims as monsters crawl, from beneath beds, closets, bathroom stalls. Those noises, creaks in the floor, are very real. Ignore them, rummy for thy belly to fill.

Until I Realized

I turned on the news and saw
people rioting in the streets,
burning the American flag,
destroying private property,
smashing windshields,
attacking innocent people,
screaming and ranting,
displaying so much hate
towards those who don’t share
the same thoughts and
ideas they do
and I was disgusted,
wondering why the news
had to always show things
that were happening
in the Middle East
until I realized

it was California

what the hell is wrong with people?
