The Debs of Pettit
These anonymous ‘debs’, Mr. Pettit;
My curiosity indeed has been whetted.
If I number among
This talented throng,
For your admiration, I’m indebted....

Arduous Delights
She felt utterly drenched
 in his intoxicating poetry
whetted her insatiable
   hunger for allegories'
     drunken semblances,
quenched an arid thirst
     parched of reality,
as she fully indulged
  a 'roused appetite
amidst gratifying
    brandied fruits &
abundantly aromatic spice
      of his arduous delights...

A Wish
Sadness.
My aching heart
strains to pump
its crimson life
and thus maintains
the whetted blade,
in dark forbode,
upon my neck.

And tears,
whose flow
might ransom
my tormented mind,
lie dormant as
dry and
withered seeds
upon unyielding stone.

Might, instead,
I someday rise
and gaze transfixed
into the wholesome sky
with feelings of
forgotten love
that dare to
live again....

Surf and turf, a sardine in tin will travel.
Your downward spiral
Magnanimity that whetted our appetite
Fans everywhere you excite.
Consumed the exotic and
consumed by erotic specialty dishes.
Five mother sauces to haute cuisine
Mouthwatering too obscene
You've come to your exit; I hope it’s delicious!
I celebrate you, it’s all been nutritious....

Feeling
there is a warmer feeling
To end a happy day
a heightened edge of satisfaction
Whetted honed to slice to peeling
dulled down senses self defences
like a pair of scratchy lenses
helping insights to unfold
and enfold the mess and clutter
That we mutter as we utter
To better this our day of action
gaining traction. As reaction
to feeling kindly certain
It is good to end this way
Sets in...

A Christmas Remembered
A Christmas Remembered A winter’s morn; the earth is still. Leaves and grass gleam virgin white as vapours shroud the distant hill. Birds forage in field and wood where the pond is steel. The sharpened air, a whetted knife, reveals to me my lover’s breath. God – I see her very life! We spread our pence beneath the tree, but love is all the gift we need, and love is free.

It's Reigning Poets
Rain made no apologies to sun
as it satiated a whetted appetite,
opined it was the right of nature
unconditionally given dispensation
by Mother Earth's nurturing favor
of life-giving creative indulgences,
whereon flower's blooming accolades
truly know the opulence of its essence,
whilst aroused poet's inspired reveries
ever shine 'neath abundant cloudbursts

Anyone who thinks that sunshine is pure happiness,
has never danced in the rain. -- unknown...

Forever In Autumn
I walked languidly through autumn,
Amongst a wind
That came at me like a whetted knife,
And crisp brown leaves that
Had gathered like old sailors
Jostling for one final parade;
All dressed in their best
Green and brown and autumn coppers.

I followed the birds south,
Past bejewelled webs
And leafy drifts

Thinking of you,
Somewhere;
Your face framed
By hair the colour of deepest night -
- But your heart,
Forever in autumn
Dancing and laughing
In our cinnamon memories
And oranges for eyes....

Good Morning
My good mornings get better upon that first cup of morning brew
makes my sense of smell tingle in anticipation
as my appetite is whetted
for further stimulation
from the
bitter smacking bean

good mornings are tolerable
with a cup of steaming Java
be it a latte, mocha Java, Americano or what have u
and I give homage to
this seemingly innocuous bean
which contains a powerhouse of alertness and verve

Good morning good morning indeed
it's going to be a good one
my spirit freed...
