Droughted Love
Canyons of loss
emotional wastelands
Spires of hope
grasping for sky

Riverbeds bake
 mountains are damming
Feelings once deluged
—barren and dry

Upward Path
In the dark wastelands
of my traumas, I see ahead
a path that leads to my
healing—

and in the far distance
of this upward path, I see
mountains of growth
awaiting my daring climb.

Worlds Without Weeping
This weeping willow, will willingly and recklessly wreak havoc on the world we
would see become a wonderful wreckage of wandering wonderlands. We will
willfully wander the wastelands. Woe for those we once knew as wearers of
wrought....

                           silence prevails

through solitary tundras

                        and wastelands

Knowledge
Were I to know how you feel
I could traverse the wastelands of ignorance
Free from this incarceration in myself
Marvel in the elation of empathy
Feel the stuff we are made from
And belong
Alas I observe from a distance and presume

The Wind Shepherd and Shepherdess

The winds,
 Like a shepherd and shepherdess,
Herd blackness,
 In swirling ghosts -
Mysteries rising
 From wastelands of wildness
Casting veils of gloom,
 Haunted by thunder,
Trying to stampede -
 Corralling tumbleweeds....

Rambling In Rhyme For All Time
Crawling to each nanosecond
A descent calling to teach me
Another Plato lesson
Lessening the agony as for
Before what was aforementioned
Fragments of talents calcified
And classified as otherworldly
Unbelievable and that which walks
With Giants along the wastelands
Unwelcomed.........

A Flower Blossoms
A FLOWER BLOSSOMS Even in the dreary wastelands Of the modern industrial age In the dirty, shattered window panes Of long-abandoned factories In the stench of refineries, the smog Even in all that A dandelion stretches its lonely neck Through a concrete crack And blossoms.

Earth's Reaction
Our earth is turning from green to gray,
Just because it can't say,
"Stop vulgarly harming me
Or you will soon see
Barren wastelands and dried seas."
Nature's beauty is fast eroding,
'Cause we are still enjoying.
Wise humans, don't you see,
We'll soon be left without a tree.
Be a little eco-friendly,
And treat nature more gently....

Where the last army laments
WHERE THE GARDEN SHINES ABOVE
ABOVE GEMS AND GOLD
WHERE THE FIRST FAMILY LAUGHS
IN GROVES AND MEADOWS
WHERE CHRIST, THE WHITE LAMB, FROLICS
IN THE GRASS WITH THE FIRST MAN

Where the desert darkens below
Below rocks and dirt
Where the last army laments
In caves and wastelands
Where Satan, the black wolf, hunts
On bare earth with the last man...

All Is Now
The universe of fear emotes a broken feeling,
loveless wastelands could hardly be called home.

Conscious rising dreamscapes, illusory revealing:
the terrified emperor sits naked on his throne.

Such precious time agonizing on his pain,
he can't receive what he refused to give.

With all his pasts and futures preordained,
in timeless boundless love God wills he lives....

Ah Those Eyes
I wanted this
How'd the problems arise?
She sits there with sadness
In those forlorn eyes
But it's not really sadness that I see
What she's actually doing is pitying me
They move to the wall
I sit there in inexplicable shame
Waiting for those damn eyes to look at me again
Those loves gone eyes, wastelands
Floor, door and then the ceiling
Then back to me again, that sick stomach feeling

I gotta go....

The Burning Bridge
When faith is abandoned
we live on old dreams
In time captured wastelands
barren demeaned
Believing the tattler
and spinner of lies
Desperation is sainted
epistles decry

“Music plays in keys of pain
shouting from below
Missals singed in pagan fire
ashes still aglow
Caught out on a bridge alone
burning from both ends
Martyred in our heresy
— darkness to befriend”

Giant Monsters
GIANT MONSTERS giants wake from their sleep rolling out of safety's keep and pain makes them feel so alive they open their eyes see all wastelands arise And pain makes them feel so aware dancing as flames flare bright eyes fixed in glare And pain makes them feel so free from all truth they flee running out to sea And pain dies with liberating cries © Kim van Breda—March 2014

Life
You sought me out

Peeled me back like a sapling

       Devoured my every tiny morsel

       Encrypted my direction

       Exposed me to the elements

You released me into the desolate wastelands

       Condemned to walk alone

Swollen with the shame from their mockery

Tormented by the hunter & the hunted

Just when I thought that was it

You said this is your LIFE.... LIVE IT!!...

My Darkest Love
Dormant eyes of the deep
Only wake when they weep

Frozen tears of the lost
Only run when they frost

Thorns of love that are shed
Creating blankets for our bed

Barren wastelands days of old
Only surface when breathes get cold

Dancing demons in our head
Building tombs for us to wed

Decaying death a witches brew
My darkest love the one I knew

Rays of darkness upon our grave
Within loves wounds retreating cave.

Deep and abiding faith I have seen
In so many places that I have been.
Mustard seed kind of which Jesus spoke;
It's the kind to which God always takes note.
The kind of faith that moves mountains;
That turns desert wastelands into fountains.
Imagine something as tiny as a mustard seed.
Such faith goes deeper than a Christian creed.
I don't claim such faith, of which there's no debate.
There is but one I have known closest to this faith.

Crusade
Barefoot
I walk
across isolated wastelands

Silence
engulfs me
and I am alone

Strangely
it does not frighten me
to be that solitary figure
stumbling on a path less traveled

Other missionaries
join my crusade
chanting hymns of unity

Our crossroads
each a different route
hidden agendas guiding us all

Barefoot I limp
over thorn and stone

Silence once again surrounds me
and I am no longer alone...

While My Pen Gently Weeps
Tears are tangled and hearts are mangled
Wasted weeping deep inside
Crystal balls showing love that falls
For our love is thus denied

Silent screams of broken dreams
Lachrymal layers laying low
Wishing wells of thought that swells
Our love has no place to go

Genocide... looks inside
The wastelands of lost souls
Come and find for now I’m blind
And have fallen through the hellion holes.

Into dark realms where death’s delusions ride
Strides the victorious warrior of charity
Grace and solitude in wilderness here abide!

Into dark realms where death’s delusions ride
Torrents of grace wake flowers in reply –
Blooms in wastelands of sand – life to guide!

Into dark realms where death’s delusions ride
Strides the victorious warrior of charity

Poetry Is Hidden
This is written by a 12 year old student BW. The only credit I take
as the teacher is encouraging the expression.

Poetry lies within the memories, the experiences of its beholder
Where the light shone and darkness fell on this fellow
Where he stood upon the throat of the world and observed
Observed the vast land below, the emerald forests
And the golden wastelands

This man saw beyond complexity, and gazed
into the simplicity of pure beauty
And shared his life with you...
