The elephant told the mouse
'I am sick of your grouse'
The mouse wagged its tail
Brought a bunch of cat's mail
'Look! all's written to your spouse'....

Mimi
Of childhood, a little story,
Mimi, fluffy dog, toy glory,
She lost an eye, tail wagged off,
Rubbed fur, not so toff,
But so well loved, I say,
Wish I still had her today!...

Puppy Treats
My puppy looked up with needy eyes,
Begging for a little woofy surprise,
She wagged her tail and licked her lips
As I fed her tasty, fresh ham strips,
I think she's a food-napper in disguise....

There was this entrée; they called it bean soup
My pet tasted some, then let out a whoop --
   Doggone it, I exhaled
As Fido wagged his tail --
While I removed all his stench from the stoop......

Premium Member Witch With a Hold In Her Nose
There was an old Witch with a beauty-mole
On her nose that looked like an ugly troll.
Spook, her hungry cat,
Like a bobcat sat,
Tail wagged, lost self-control and left a hole.

Premium Member Wunder-Mutt and I
My obese dog, Wunder-Mutt,
was hungry.
I gave "fatty" some sausage pizza.
"Good boy" I jovially said.
"We shall both diet tomorrow."
He wagged his tail, to agree.

Then...Darn it!
I fell and hit my fat head.
Concerned, he licked left-over
mozzarella off my double chins.
Ah, obesity~the joy that never ends!

Two Liners
Two liners
He sat on a square stone under an olive tree
contemplating his afterlife.

What if he came back as a donkey in Sudan?
Or dromedary in Sahara.

He could become a dog like the one at his feet,
The dog looked up, wagged its tail slowly.

Pondering this he came to the conclusion
He wanted to be a long-lived olive tree.

The olive tree in Portugal, if in Palestine he risked
Being set aflame by settlers...

Premium Member We Wagged Our Tails With Glee
We dogs were in an uproar, angry as all get out.
The cats get all the attention in October, we usually pout.
Let’s have our own tradition, come howl at the moon.
So this year we had their own party, all in costume.

We dunked for doggie treats out of a large vat.
We constructed our own HELLO door mat.
We sat on each other’s laps, and wagged our tails with glee.
Next year if we hold another one you can go there with me....

Loyalty
There once was a dog
with love in his heart
and trust in his eyes
who howled at the moon
who buried his bones
who chewed the cushions
who protected and guarded
without being asked
and without reward
who licked and wagged
and smiled and danced
who became
the best friend
you could ever have
he was the very first dog
Loyalty was his name
and every dog
that followed behind him
hasn’t changed
a single thing.

Smoking
Smoking There once was a black dog. His tail was limp, no wag. All he could think about Was where he would get His next fag. There once was a white dog. She jumped and danced And wagged her tail As she pranced. It wasn’t that the white dog Was smarter than the black. It was just that the black dog Was a slave To a cigarette pack. Dog Depression
His boy left for school far away
how could we explain?
he took up residence on the stair landing
his chin took residence on the floor
he slept there too
waiting
his eyes dark and sad
its been too long
his boy had been gone before not this long
not this long
the other boys come and go
but not his
six weeks and his tail wagged a bit
his smile started to come back
but the back of his eyes stayed dark
he's waiting
that boy is out there somewhere........

To My Dead Uncle
When we were little, future was what we had
growing up, they turned into dreams
flourishing inside of us were them all

The strength to build these dreams before us, we all have
you, DEAR UNCLE, had that strength
but the storm of life blew too hard
the war wagged so fierce

You DEAR UNCLE, a strong man, a gentle fellow and an angel to everyone
maybe those dreams you had weren't fully fulfilled
hope you will fulfill them in the life to come
   Sleep on DEAR ONE......
