 With lethal liquid in the syringe
As he approached his aged, mangy dog
Lying still n’ waiting summons, it wagged its tail

This one is painful. There are many sad questions here, about the dog, about the owner. But that’s what poetry is supposed to do… evoke an emotion, provoke a response. Well done.

Sorry to hear that you too had such an experience ! This was long time back at my ancestral home ! After marriage, I have kept only three dogs.... one each at a time. Two of them died after six and seven years ! It was heartbreaking and after that have never kept a dog ! Thanks a lot sweet friend !

Sad one. That is a hard part of owning a pet. If they don't die of natural causes in a natural way, they have to be put down in some way or another and it hurts but it also hurts when they die of natural causes. Thanks for your visit to my page. Sara..Our female Chihuahua died last year around May or June, and I still miss her so much. Hairy the male Chihuahua is just not the same kind of pet.

It is definitely so sad killing pets with the hands that caressed and fed them ! But when we see them suffer and suffer without end, we opt for their death, though with great remorse. Just sorry for your Chihuahua. Thank you Sara for your empathetic response.
