Premium Member The Five Star Banana Band
The five star dog banana band is coming up the road.
It includes widows and orphans and a bald man so bold.
They screech out their truth.
Louder than Grandma Ruth.
Listening to their crazy harmonies never gets old....

Albyon
If you looked deep
inside your mind,
to somewhere else;
you might just find:
a path that leads to nowhere.

If on this path,
you chose to go;
up the road a ways or so,
you might verily stumble upon:
these fair shores of Albyon....

Premium Member Sitting In the Sun Soaking Up Rays
I’m sitting in the sun, soaking up rays
This is one of those good old-fashioned days
Dog barks at tractor coming up the road
Cat fascinated by a small brown toad
The warm barely-breeze can hardly be felt
Dangling in the sun on end of God’s belt....

mockingbird attacks wiggling worm on hot driveway.... briefly hold brake down
God blesses in so many ways. I see the Mockingbird that feeds from the ground and then drive up the road short way and there are about 8 or 10 swallows feeding from the air....

two bars for the thirsty
one catholic church
for the sinners to be forgiven
one gas station
so us country folk
don't run out of gas
one big country concert
in july up the road
one 75 year old man
who runs  a quiet
slaughter house
a quaint little town
on a busy state route...

Hard To Believe
I saw a horsefly when I was young
I saw a man that was being transparent
I saw my brother take a trip on a lark
When acrophobia to him was inherent

At the top of the stairs a clock ran down
I once saw a trash truck fly up the road
Someone told me that time was running out
But it's still hard to believe a cock crowed!...

Premium Member A Ruined Saturday
Everyone celebrated Monday
Grand Memorial Day
Now the workers are working
Now ruined a Saturday

The noisy trucks go up the road
At five, six, and seven o'clock
Destroyed a quiet Saturday
Gone the barn swallow flock

The sun still slowly rises up
Black clouds float 'pon the sky
Will the rain start falling soon
Or the sun keep all dry ...

The rising sun's fingers cast beams As the truck's tires sing as it comes along The crow now has arisen to caw The lookout caws like something is wrong There across the way the dove coos A crow up the road caws too In the oak tree an unusual sound Such peace proclaimed brand new

Premium Member I Met a Man
I met a man in my street,
The strangest chap you’d ever meet.

I met a man up the road,
He said he thought he was a toad.

I met a man in the park,
Who wouldn’t go out after dark.

I met a man inside a shop,
Bought everything and wouldn’t stop.

I met a man in my garden,
Could only say ‘I beg your pardon!

I met a man and ‘Oh my word’
He was normal. How absurd!...

Something Greater
Sometimes, we must let go of things
Blinded by our own heartache and pain
We think it is only for the worst
Mistaking a true blessing, to be a total curse
Feeling, as though our worlds have been turned upside down
With our hopes and dreams shattered all around
Picking up the pieces, time is slipping by faster than we know
We find, that Something Greater, was lying just up the road...

The Staycation
The Staycation.

It’s time for my staycation,
Explore at home in this great nation.
No airport runs and a long wait,
I’ve just driven up the road to date,
with kids, bucket and spade, dog
and the sandwiches we made.
The sea may be cool,
But we found some pools
and paddled most of the day.
We love it! the family all say.
So it’s no more new time zone,
I will sit in Pevensey, with an ice cream cone....

Fifteen Miles Up
There’s a town fifteen miles up the road
Well more of a prison really
“Since that is the direction I’m headed
Perhaps give a fellow practitioner a friendly warning.”
The town is run by a magician
A magician with the dreams of a city
A slave population to build it
So he swept up the radius,
cooked up their souls down to ash…
turned them into ants
An inhumane endeavour, thinking became illegal
“But you’re still here!?”
Yes, indeed I am....

Premium Member Fettle Fetal Death Killed Road Kill Sread Out All Around Here-
a 4 lane bi-way east and west;
first come upon passing of a dead skunk;
Next comes a squirrel
and then another skunk on the north side of the lane;
just there laying on their sides dead as nails;
Now the odor so pungent;
smells of death
almost liken human, dog, or other animal remains, yet worse;
Fetal fettle dead carcasses
up the road
Lord, God almighty animalistic death's hold
Don't know if them critters were sick or poison
Something but life got a hold of em'...

Longer
No longer can you plan a trip
When driving is the means,
For calculating ETA’s
Is like a hill of beans.

Construction doesn’t help things,
Though it keeps the traffic slowed,
But the problem is how many
Cars and trucks clog up the road.

To cross a bridge this morning,
Where the backup was a mess,
Added fifty minutes to our ride,
As well as lots of stress.

At times we cannot help it –
Cars can take us door to door,
But it certainly takes longer
Than it ever did before....
