time flies
up and over
starts goes
light solar
up down
dims glows
moods polar
light up in the shadows
Drunk sober
throwing up lows
Pieces of life
drift in smoky circles over the chimney
grey against the white blue sky we can track
smudgy darkness as it carries
up and over one hundred year evergreens
mixing with your clouds.
Form:
one of these days
we will see through
the morning haze
sun we saw long ago
is just out of reach
up and over the haze
through the storms of life
the sun is always there
that is what faith we have
just knowing that brings light
The fog thickens
streching up and over
the edge of my mug
leaning on the windowsill
draped in wool
waking slowly
A deep breath
to rid the morning frost
From my chest mixing
with mint green
and honey
so sweet
remembering your eyes on me
lifts the fog
When the trees flicker the wind blows cool the sky follows the stars are as a bright lite that shines up brightness to see the sun shine up and over the rainbow that changes colors to see the grass grows up and over your feet and the moon goes up and down till the end of time
A little boy with a great big grin,
Loved to watch the train come in.
To see it travel on the track,
Up a steep hill and then come back.
He watched it struggle, at first in vain,
Huffing and puffing to bear the strain.
Up and over, the little train ran,
Saying proudly, “I think I can!”
and dreaming she conquered her mountain.
and she went up and over the ridge to him.
and he came over to the white cloud tops.
and the wind moved him like rain over her hair.
and that he was more and more in love with her.
and one night she became his voice his dream.
and she lived on the mountain, she conquered.
‘The Long Shadow’
Jenny Souter 10/07/2023
My shadow is longer than me.
Pooling my shape and stretching limbs, distorting reality.
I turn the thin paper edges up and over, frayed, like old baking parchment.
A kind of alchemy against the shadow, that is me.
We lay here together- just so-my shadow and I.
The church was planted in a little green valley.
Facing a mountainside of solid granite.
With a splattering color of purple and red,
Freckled with yellows and browns.
With pleasant shades of blue.
That grew naturally into streaks.
Of marbled veins, stretching, and climbing,
It's way up and over the granite,
moonlight peaks and flowing down,
into speckled trout creeks.
I'm just an old shovel, who loved spooning around
Scooping up and over again, the same old ground
I’ve handled jobs, few others would call profound
Always piling high, and patting down a big mound
Some folks leaned on me, if no seats to be found
Then gave me a shoulder, when homeward bound
When on the scrap heap, I never made one sound
Got shafted damn good... but, I’m on the rebound
Tonight I sleep with dogs,
Laughter through midnight hour,
Darkness has got a price,
Listening to a swaying willow
tree.
I'm sleeping with Charlie,
Thomas and Bob,
Sweet scent from Jasmine
flowers,
Shadows at my line of sight,
Hearing whispers spoken to me.
Watching K9s is now my job,
Until night shift is up and over,
Forget my worries and hunger
pangs,
Tomorrow I sleep with dogs
again.

Form:
serving up a Thanksgiving scare
the sleeping grandfather suddenly
sneaks up and over, like a shadow,
his grandson unaware until boo - the scare
until the son sneaks up and over his father
unaware until a hysterical scare
what a pair!
family doubled over falls to the floor
— let the bodies hit the floor
— let the bodies hit the floor*
the pyramid scheme in full tilt

*Bodies by Drowning Pool reference
My fingertips moved slowly up and over your lower dark region,
Stopping to caress your navel.
Towards the base of your breast,
Outlining the entire soft pendulous orb,
Savoring this before seeking the inflamed nipple.
Your flesh erupted in miniscule bumps.
Your body shuddered and your eyes closed.
Your pleasure a tiny,exquisite death:
A rebirth in paradise.
Beyond Closed Eyes
Beyond, your closed eyes
I can see how you feel
In the way that you hold me
In the way that you breathe
I push back your hair
Up, and over your ears
Entranced in a beauty
I could never deny
Beyond, those green eyes
Is the woman I love
And though, you have chosen
Your nails pull me close
Your breasts on my chest
Your breath in my ear
But our love, I fear
Is merely beyond
Closed eyes

My Time
Age proves to me that time is a passing breeze
Fleeting glimpses of my life and the lives of others
Boil up and over in my mind’s eyes, late at night
Frantic flashes of feelings and emotions in my head
Years fly by in the bat of an eye… each day we must seize
Capturing memories to cherish hold and adore… Our own mothers
Knowing in our heart and mind just how to make it right
Steady knowledge of family and loved ones, as we lay our heads to bed

Form:
A falling leaf,
a step in time,
the tune of my thoughts,
set in rhyme,
The autumn sun,
sets a scene,
through the shadow,
of the trees,
it spreads it's beam,
A ray of colours,
fills the sky,
up and over,
the hills so high,
A fresh watery breeze,
brushes my face,
as I stand and stare,
at this wonderful place,
This place is our home,
where we belong,
full of beauty,
and nature's song,
whenever we can,
we should embrace,
the gift of nature,
and all its grace.
