The coffee quickly gets cold
in the time it takes to part.
Words start then stop
on this last morning,
or is it the first?
So imagine
A death ray
That turns
Troops to paste
Or makes the
Atoms in their
Body explode
Hmm dissonance
And quiet at
The border tonight
peace
hopeful, loving
writing, singing, chanting
protest, demonstration, troops, politics
marching, training, killing
dangerous, frightening
war
GANDER NEWFOUNDLAND
38 PLANES HAD TO LAND
FOLKS GAVE A HELPING HAND
AFGHANISTAN, WHERE
CANADIAN TROOPS SERVED THERE
WE DID OUR FAIR SHARE
I read the stories
About dogs saving people
And see other stories
About the president signing
Bills to put more troops
To go where they don't want to go
Sons and Daughters
Over there
Sons and Daughters
Dying there
Sons and Daughters
We want them here
Sons and Daughters
They are all our
Sons and Daughters
The Captain's new wife was "true blue"
Whilst he stayed The Wives Club main screw
But rather than pout
When the Captain was out
She serviced his troops two by two
Mothers cry for fallen sons
The war is over they say
If Congress sent their young ones
Our troops would be home today
Third place in Chastushka Form contest (Gwendolen Rix)
On Summer days an outie
like a flirtatious poutie.
My doc snipped just right.
Button pops; it’s out of sight.
Take a look-see; oops -
closed to troops.
High ranking General George S. Patton.
His mission the enemy to flatten.
To his troops he exclaimed without blinking,
If everyone is thinking alike, then someone isn’t thinking.
Russian snipers can't hit Turkish drones
So Putin's troops call home on their phones
And every one says,
"Please send me a fes
Whilst there is still some meat on my bones!"
How I wish troops were withdrawn from the battlefield;
And peace talks were honoured and respected.
How I wish there was a time when guns were silent;
To end one of the bloodiest wars on earth !
BEFORE THE CHARGE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
the sun’s advance troops
line the ridge like Indians
in an old Western
poised on the bright brim of day
a moment before the charge
Night train screaming down
The hill, grinder for
Metal rails in Earth’s dust.
Painful reminder of war
Carrying troops to battle.
Her screams echo those of
the dying soldiers.
Able bodied children dead!
Even fate grieves hopelessly
In justified keening, lamentation, mourning.
Not one pacifier!
Queens royally sejant...
Troops under vultures' wings,
Xylophones yack zealously...
"We the unwilling
Led by the unqualified
To kill the unfortunate
Die for the ungrateful"
A motto of the troops
Who served in Vietnam
And wrote it on the back
Of a chrome Zippo lighter.
Clutching golden rings
The divorcees sign the end
Of a bad divorce
The stranger arrives
Grasping the death sentences
The locals refuse
Troops converge with drums
Signaling to the vultures
That prey has arrived
In the land of Armenia, Christians face death each day
The Land of Azerbajan, encroaches and causes affray
A line of troops however hold, the opposing sides at bay
It suprised my mind to know (they are not from un or USA.'
Disgruntled troops fall in line
when the head honcho appears
Long-time rebels go soft in the mouth
Seems they now value their paychecks
as they retreat to the womb
of a company experiencing a boom
Coffins cheaper by the dozens
The French
Are withdrawing a thousand troops
From Afghanistan
Before the end of the year
But only if they are not killed
Too many coffins
Don’t look good
On the French president’s desk
People can count
History’s unpopular these days,
No one cares where Blues shot Greys,
Or where the tons of cannonballs were kept.
Union marker stands aloof, alone,
Monument of bronze and chisled stone,
And students giggle where the Northern troops once swept.
They call it war
Others say it is much more
People risking thier lives
Too protect thier husbands or wives
They took down two of ours
So we take down all of their buildings and cars
Its a war that will never end
So more and more troops we send
Form:
The French are withdrawing a thousand troops
From Afghanistan
Before the end of the year
But only if they are not killed
Too many coffins
Don’t look good
On the French president’s desk
People can count
Especially the dead
Dumped on foreign ground
Without a body bag
I know your fastest movement
You're social; you live in groups
In hard work your time you spend
In Concord, you move in troops...!
I cannot, yet, fully grasp
Why do you wriggle under
My feet within my short gasp
And soon get torn asunder...!!
21 March 2023
God blitzed Sodom & Gomorrah
Including fauna & flora
Putin says, "Me, too!
I am just like you
Blasting that Box of Pandora!"
n.b. after blowing up their home
and family, Russian troops
tell survivors that they have
been liberated from the Nazis!
