A Lone Star Shone On
A Yellow Rose of Texas
and Bluebonnets Grown
We have a vehicle on Mars
Down on Earth, no gas for our cars
No heat overnight
No water in sight
in Texas, they're just seeing stars!
gold blooms spill down the Franklin slopes,
a sudden sunrise rooted in the earth,
desert wind brushing color into motion.
blue hush spreads
over open fields~
cedar breath,
distant cows,
sun breaking through ragged clouds,
sky rinsed clean again.
There once was a Texan singer
Whose voice was a real humdinger
But Rangers would mount on
And all she could count on
Was her upright middle finger
A gunslinger carving a notch
Slipped, sticking the knife in his crotch
Of course it drew blood
But more like a flood
So right thar lies Cassidy Botch
Texans are not known for their brains
Which go off the rails just like trains
But why should they care?
They're going nowhere

A squirrel in autumn hollered, “Dang!
This heat’s got my tail in a tang.
It’s ninety-eight degrees, y’all~
that ain’t autumn, not at all!
Where’s sweata weather in Texas?” he did pang.
There was a gal whose name was Lexus
Who hailed from the big state of Texas
Wrote words and rhymes on cell
When it broke she just yelled
She goes by the name of Alexis
