Funny Reindeer

A funny reindeer sat on a rock
He sat on the rock to take stock
That if the rock was to split
He would have nowhere to sit
It came as quite a shock

Business

I can captain the ship,
I can not command the ocean,
I can not control your words,
I can take stock of my emotion,
three business to mind,
one I own, one you own,
the other divine.

Premium Member Wherefore

Another year's passed
In the blink of an eye
  Time to take stock
  Once more to ask
What, When and Why

What have I accomplished?
When will I do more?
Why have I delayed?
  ~ Wherefore?

Writers Block

Writers block,
Time for a walk around the block.
Time to take stock,
Time to sell stock,
Time to rethink the plot,
While cleaning up the garden plot,
Time to empty the waste basket,
And fill a picnic basket.

Morning

it came blind, blind like the night
and legs wake it it blindness
to meet the real night.

by noon, the blindness our actions first
unknown...

and by night....
we take stock....

what a wonder....
the morning was not blind.

Time

Time and months fly
Then I'm in the "By and By"
It's awesome, amazing
My emotion dazing.
Stop! Take stock
Watch the clock,
Each moment, each breath
Life or death.
Am I praying
The hand of evil staying
Making my life count
As blessings I mount?

Go For It All

If you are in love
Take stock of your actions.
Because words like dove
secure no affection.

Hold their hand
Kiss their face
Slide on a golden band
show they can't be replaced.

Love is for the warriors of doing
the disciples of yes
Take that chance, get going
Impress.

Premium Member This is cottage life

warm cup in hand i take stock
as the cool air caresses my face
the smells of dawn comingle
the lake ever so still with
sounds of nature waking up

there's nothing more precious
than this moment and
the sense of awe i feel

i am undeniably blessed

The balloon has popped
  Life's merry-go-round stopped

The 21st century's bubble burst
We got hit with the worst

Written perhaps in the stars
Else the scheme of a commissar

No one knows what's ahead
  Already 800,000 dead

Now's the time to take stock
  No turning back the clock

A Ticking Off

A vicar when teaching his flock
Would never pay heed to the clock
Until his lost sinners
Arrived with their dinners
Which finally made him take stock!

Premium Member Time Immemorial

There's a time to run, a time to rest
A time to take stock, a time to reflect

A time to forgive, a time to forget
A time to beget, a time to reset

A time to surrender, a time to fold
A time to be brave, a time to be bold

A time to speak up, a time to be still
A Time Immemorial ~ to do His Will

Far From God's Precious Heart

If people die because of their beliefs
The world needs to take stock and grief
For life is such a precious thing
And to be cut down so is beyond imagining

Who wins when the bullets fly
Certainly no one as we ask why
For every bullet hitting its mark
Means we are far from God’s precious heart.

Knock Knock

Oh dear
She's here

Way out
In doubt

Knock knock
Take stock

Good day
Aunt May

Come through
Please do

More tea?
(Brew three)

Drones on
Day's gone

Ears sore
(NO MORE!!!)

Can't stay?
(Hooray!)

Bye bye!
(Deep sigh!)

Rat tat
Who's that?

Good Lord!
Aunt Maude!!!

Premium Member Journeys

On life's journeys do we stop to reflect
take stock of where we have been
Asking pointed questions helps us select
a path forward to avoid taint of sin

Where have we been? Where are we going?
To Whom will we report in the end?
In order to reap, we have to keep sowing
    Lovingly, our gardens to tend

Midnight

Midnight is such a lonely time,
Neither yesterday or tomorrow.
It could lift you or for all you know,
Make you laugh or bring you sorrow
Midnight is a step into the unknown,
It could be called The Twilight Zone,
Midnight, before it comes, take stock,
For on the morrow there may be a shock.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.
The hands sweep round the clock.
Now I try to take stock.

It hits me in the face
as more my time does race
from here to other place.

From beginning to end.
This notion my mind bend
as loose ends do offend.

Future and past must meet,
equation to complete.
Ends then tied. All is neat.

Premium Member A Lucky Man

I am a very lucky man
  to be a tiny part
    of God's grand plan

On the Sabbath I stay away
  from society's business
    for one whole day

Spend time with family and friends
  Pray, study, commune
    take stock of life's ends

Afterward, relaxed and refreshed
  I resume life's daily test
    primed to do my level-best

Resolution

is it just the time of year
that we pause, take stock
think of new resolutions
and the old we did not keep

this New Year, I resolve
to look deep and measure
to look outside the box
to think, not in abstract
to feel, not more than there is
to dream less
and realize more
to not over analyze
to accept and not push

this New Year

Old and new, rich and poor, and
those of whom you're not quite sure
school and work, and some on the block
others of whom you oughta take stock

Fair-weather or true-blue
  they've all supported you --
Yet as on your journey you wend
  how many remain your friend...

As for me and my outlook on life
the one friend I can count on's my wife

High Peaks Holdfast

I shift my jacket close as wind blows past,
perched upon this dull, gray massif of rock,
below the throaty call of raven’s squawk,
cannot stay long, in Fall the sun won’t last,
cold can make a man run out of gas,
but rolling vistas make a soul take stock,
ridge upon ridge, all view of cities blocked,
shut right out in my stark, high peaks holdfast.

Premium Member One good fall

Pride it is said goes before a fall
A fall may not be fatal

One good fall could be a blessing in disguise
For It could signal a new beginning

It could portend a second chance
It could also be a learning phase

When you skip and fall
As mortals sometimes do

Take stock of the pitfalls
Get right up on your feet
And be on the march again!

Premium Member Lost My Way

I wonder if I have lost my way
Got caught up in all the hype
Doing what I think I should do
Being a certain type!

I need to take a step back
Take stock and re-evaluate
Remember why I began this
In the first place!

Sometimes we lose our focus
Often forgetting the reason why
I need to go back to the very beginning
Recall the true motivation and once again apply!

Take Cover

Sirens scream
when winds blow
under a cover of black clouds.
A storm breaks the grasp
of a sultry day,
and you must take cover.
Drop everything,
and grab your children
and radio and flashlight,
no time to take stock of your life,
not now.
Move orderly
downstairs
seek cover
wait
out forces
unseen
as they
twist along
the plains
somewhere,
and cower
in shadows
of your
life.
