Blanket swaddled
Face pressed against
Icy glass.
Amazed!
Sunlight shooting
beautiful rainbows from
hanging Icicles.

Newborn BABY
being held laying on back all day long
crying, wailing waving arms
swaddled and in comfort

Awake crying in the darkness
Hungry must be fed
Nursed, changed, swaddled
Rocked and laid gently into the bassinet
Lonely wanting to be held
Awake crying in the darkness

He waits,
Abandoned alone,
Motherless in a basket
Swaddled in a strangers
Clothes.
Staring at the sunrise,
With wide newborn eyes.
Motherless in a basket,
And still has yet to cry

How in Anyone's Name Can This Be?
Laid out in
Uneven lines
On the road
In the dirt
Little, swaddled
Dishevelled wraps
Uneven in size
Stiff little bundles
Empty inside
Like dolls
'Cept they're not

Here, the infant Day
In a misty hush
Lies, as swaddled.
Moses, among the reeds!
And the Nile's weeds.
No wind dares blow up.
Stirs, lapwing, leaf.
As duck, paddled.
Daughter of Eygpt's throne
Come claim your own!

Forged in the depths of fire
New life from just a spark
Infant with opened eyes
Emerges from the dark
Pampered bathed and swaddled
Pure innocence that charms
Now passed with gentle care
Cradled in mother's arms

Giving birth to new feelings,
life to the unborn
Eternity swaddled,
cradled and warm
A labored delivery,
nibbed forceps demand
Prying out a new meaning
—each stroke of the hand

Prying out a new meaning,

Sometimes like a sweet, delicious magical morsel,
The best thing that could be served to any mortal,
Sometimes like a Trojan horse, agony swaddled within,
The worst thing that could befall any soul,
We all have our encounters in time

STRIPTEASE
private invitation
on backyard veranda
sweet purple wine
straps dangle
she’s swaddled
in sensuous mystery
his breath in striptease
his eyes overwhelmed
he calmly sips his wine
of slow approach
this marriage he owns

……………………………
A glacial heaven on blue earth
Swaddled in blankets of crowned snow,
Suckling breast of my ancient birth
In mountain streams, bamboo trails flow.
When life’s finished, here I will lie,
To hear my ancestors’ lullaby.

Verse
Let the cold, integral to fall
Allow a furlough from life’s gall
Zapped of heat, my water love lost
Yielding to blankets, dark accosts…
Days mist like ghosting memories
All wrapped warm, swaddled in stories
Yet, outside forces beat and knock…
So wish to hibernate, doors locked!

Sevenbits - Diary
Scribbled of my happiness
‘He makes me swoon - my eyes dance’
Swaddled my innermost thoughts
Nazi moles must not trespass
Sunset dust hurts, as I fly
Locked away behind the clouds
The cosmos courts all my words

springs innocence,
tender buds,
birthed gently in morning dew,
swaddled in delicate downy green.

Winter’s Womb 1-18-24 45 Syllables
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Winter’s Womb
In the temple of winter’s womb pearls of crystal plant snowflowers
Swaddled in thick quilts of snow in sacred silence nature swells
Frosty plumes birth from wild whirlwinds, in crystalline rhythmic rimes.
Christmas bells ring
the angels sing
a child is born today
swaddled in hay
May happiness be
in all you see
may your spirits be bright
celebrate in delight
Joyful is the season
Lord is the reason
Celebrate his birth
with love and mirth.
Merry Christmas to all.
Best wishes for the new year. phyl
Not Damascus road but the burning bush
Or where the ships for Tarshish dock
Find me swaddled in the bulrush deep
With neither rod nor sight I shall hide
Only where you cleft your side for me
And as your witness pursue hell's Herod
Beyond my brimming wilderness, for I
To your service pledge my life in praise
Footsteps die away
Like dews falling on the seas
Flowers bloom the bees
Swaddled in a dark blanket
Waiting for the morning sun
Swaddled in covers once again,
He is not allowed to feel pain,
Remorse or any feelings of sadness,
Instead,
He receives Spokenword of words,
False eves and hurting sprayings,
I am not allowed to feel pain,
Nor am I to feel shunned,
I rest my head tonight in tears,
Tonight my pillow will be wet,
Instead of in flames.
I fell upon an open space of love
Of warmth and grace sent from above
Entangled as a worm upon a hook
Nestled in a lovers’ crook
Strengthened by hearts trepid beat
Cajoled and swaddled within loves heat
Crippled now within loves’ grasp
Freedom far beyond my pass
Love love a so wanted grace
Swallowed now a forgotten face.
The feeling of floating through time and space
Loneliness and silence consumes me
Wrapped in darkness like a swaddled infant
No beginning or ending
Forever searching for light
No emotion or sense of touch
Capsulated in an endless loop of confinement
No exit for escape
Forever searching for release from the limbo of my existence
The parched, cracked earth receives the rain
into a billion hungry mouths;
she suckles at the sky’s wet breast
swaddled in cloud-gray gauzy blouse.
Sweet budding grasses nod and sway;
infant creatures babble and croon,
as Mother Nature tucks all in
‘neath nightlight-blue lullaby moon.
They cover your soles
your heels
and your toes
and they render you dressed
when your ankles are exposed
your shoes can stride forth
with an elegant air
and your turn-ups can flap
with a devil-may-care
‘cause your feet are now swaddled
in a pair of pure wool
and are identically matched
in a delicate blue
with a column of ducks.
