Hi Sara! Even though winter seems stark in comparison to spring, there is so much to be savored in this beautiful season! Blessings and prayers!

Dear Sam, this is absolutely gorgeous the way youv Woven words here in your sijo is so exquisite and captivating! I must highlight your use of alliterations and imagery that fits the title as well as how well it flows. Especially “ Swaddled in thick quilts of snow in sacred silence “ sometimes in silence too, patiently we wait for the beginning of new light. It must be snowing alot there? Sending you light always. Best wishes for the contest. I hope you’ll score high!

Dear Sam, you have crafted a magnificently evocative wintry poem; the metaphors and use of alliteration are exquisite, and it was a delight to read on a bitterly cold, frigid morning. We have too much snow in the east part as well.

you have given birth to a wonderfully descriptive winter poem Sam , love the imagery and use of alliteration, a joy to read on a bitterly cold icy morning on our Island - thankfully no more snow/hail or ice last night... glad I have my thermals lol:-) hugs Jan xx

Hi Jan! Hope you are doing well and that things have warmed up a bit. Having grown up by the water I remember how biting the wet, winter cold can be. Seems to go right through you! Thank you for your wonderful feedback. For me, even though winter seems lifeless, it is like a cradle birthing unique wonders while rocking nature as it sleeps. It was a joy "birthing" this poem. Take care, my friend! Warm blessings to you and a hug!!

a delightful Sijo, Sam. I like the 'winter womb' concept and you've captured it beautifully...I liked 'frost plumes..." have a great evening, Sara

Hi Sara! Thank you so much! Haven't written a sijo in ages! I'm so glad you enjoyed this slice of winter in all it's plumage. For all the cold and darkness of the season in hibernation there is such a sense of a pregnant pause before the birth of spring. Gratitude and blessings to you!
