Sonneteer Petrarch, with
      Shakespeare, set the standards:
   so little space - fourteen
short lines, each with just ten
         syllables. Yet greats like
                 St. Vincent Millay weave
               scripts pregnant with meaning.

Millay
A journey told in stanzas,
Layered with devout cynicism.
Lyrical dreams set to pen,
Painted a world with poetry.

A Pulitzer Prize heart,
Flooded the page in verse.
Inspired by her many affairs,
She shared her poetic soul,
To her beloved America.

Premium Member Souls In Stardust
'down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind' -
Edna St Vincent Millay

In
Vastness
We shall lie
At peace, beneath
Mountains of moonbeams
No servants or masters
Equal bells, everlasting
Shackles of suffering release
Over celestial bridges, where the
Cosmos recycles our souls in stardust.

"Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind" - Edna St. Vincent Millay On my back, looking up past the steeple, I view pure beauty beyond the vale of tears. Soon, I will be going down, but I am not resigned to stay. This soothing peace is otherworldly but for cries of all who mourn my demise

Tears of Rain
Down, down, down into the darkness of the grave Gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind; " Edna St, Vincent Millay

rain
falls hard
ground is soft
black mud appears
swollen rivers flood
tears cry nonstop from sky
trees are engulfed by pure rage
weeping willow weeps for life line
roots struggle for strength to hold onto
stormy clouds pushed away by mighty sun

Tides
'...the great tide that treads the shifting shore.'
   -Edna St. Vincent Millay

Sluggishly the waves steal in like guilty
lovers, apologetic,
smothering the shore with gentle kisses
of contrition;
the ocean lies at rest, the surf recumbent,
apoplectic.

Suddenly the heavens burst, tides no
longer in remission,
swells that idled now surge into shore
their temper rages,
'sotto voce' once, now they roar like tigers
in their cages!...

Cleverly disguised, it strides purposefully proclaiming propoganda as it tramples our liberties. Good people everywhere – don’t despair, for Death shall deliver you . . . from madness.
