Souls In Stardust

'down, down, down into the darkness of the grave
gently they go, the beautiful, the tender, the kind' -
Edna St Vincent Millay

In
Vastness
We shall lie
At peace, beneath
Mountains of moonbeams
No servants or masters
Equal bells, everlasting
Shackles of suffering release
Over celestial bridges, where the
Cosmos recycles our souls in stardust.

Well done Michelle, in death all are equal, servant, master, for dust we are, and in the end we return to the dust!

Thank you John - yes, I was thinking of ' ashes to ashes, dust to dust' as well!

Peace? "The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out . . . .", so cremation is another option, but you are quite right as smoke and ash also become stardust forming new visions. Best of luck in the contest! Aloha! Rico

I also think cremation makes more sense, in practical terms, but regardless, we all return to dust in the end - appreciate your comment!

Your words weave a magic spell, Michelle. I love the quote you chose and the poem behind it, as I know you do. We both went with the 'peace' theme. Love the line "Shackles of suffering release" and the phrase "equal bells" plus the celestial references. Very calming. Well done, I know this will do well in the contest. Have a great day, my friend ~ John

Yes, the quote is from her 'Dirge Without Music' (and she does not approve!) I thought about doing something in that vein, but decided to go with the idea of eternal rest - so pleased you enjoyed it!
