Hot Toddies

Just today my nose started dripping
Sore throat, into the Vick’s I’m dipping
If this misery won’t go away
Hot toddies will come into play
To feel great, I’ll just keep on sipping

Being unable to think of anything else,
Carley was in a
Despicable
Enthrallingly
Fearsome
Gloriously
Hedonic

Knife-like
Lethargic

small pox, sore throat, what in the world
Died at twenty-nine, died at seventy
So many stories about the virgin queen
Elizabeth the 1st, you remain a secret today
You did make House of Tudor go away.

Premium Member My Country Ballad

In my mournful country ballad I wrote
My heart's achin' like a giraffe with a sore throat
But when folks hear giraffe
They just throw things and laugh
Somehow I seem to have hit a wrong note

Poorly Giraffe

Lofty was a very large giraffe
he got ill from standing in a draught,
got a very sore throat
and sounded like a goat
funny to see a giraffe look daft.

The Cold

Feeling sick for a week is no fun at all
Taking medicine that tasted like alcohol
the runny nose and sore throat
and it looks like your tongue is wearing a coat
The annoying sneezing and endless amounts of tissue
Everyone saying god bless you

Expected Rudolph since he holds some sway
for pulling Santa's exceptional sleigh
           However, Rudy's sore throat
           Necessitated Bill Goat
who dined on gifts, burped Happy Holiday!

Premium Member Feel Better Now

So you don’t feel well
You’re under the weather
You can’t breath
And you feel like hell

You got a sore throat
You wish you would die
And that’s all that she wrote
You’re achy and teary
Life’s just one big misery
But it’s really not that bad
You could be in New Jersey

Lovely yellow and green chamomile; delicate flowers blooming among the greenery; I brew you into an elixir with fresh lavender, honey and lemon. A tasty tea to heal my sore throat and bring much needed repose so, I can revel in Elysian dream fields.

Swimming Lessons

I've had a sore throat
And no energy lately
But I've been out swimming
And feel so much better
Swimming isn't just about exercise
It's a form of good recreation
You know it's super good stress relief
It's like a moment when all
The deliberate worries I've ever had
Vanished like water.

who ignores expensive dog chews
preferring to find his own entertainment

The Ten Days of Covid

On the tenth day of Christmas,
my true love gave to me;
one dose of Covid,
breathless and restless,
tire and fatigue,
loose bowels and sickness,
sore throat and acne,
phlegm, cough and sneezes,
acute loss of smell,
aches and pains,
cycling high fever,
and a lung full of pure misery.

Premium Member Sad Sick Mary Dee

Mary Dee had a mad conviction
That she’d always have a weird affliction.
Six doctors said she would likely beat it,
Encyclopedia worries though promptly heat it.

She kept a perpetual sore throat for her entire life.
Remaining a perpetual mean and unhappy wife.
Mary Dee, determined to be sick and sad.
Sorriest aunt I ever had, mean sister to my dad.

Premium Member my desk

A bottle of sore throat relief spray lies on my desk
Along with sixteen torn up pages of past written poems
My cell phone sits here too, a box of Kleenexes, six notebooks
There are two computer monitors on this desk
I like clutter, it makes me feel safe and loved
Is that a barrette? I watch it moving steadily away
A tiny pincher bug, adding a bit of life to this mess

Voice off the grid
Stuffy nose sore throat voice not submissive
motion detectors going off
 submissive traffic jams
 no one's listening
 collusion so much
 confusion
 non bias
everyone's in the riot
 no understanding
 beautiful set of five
 silicified
 bonafide
no one else here to ride
I am caught in an emotional traffic jam

Sweet

Sweet, as salt is
When it used to calm a sore throat

Sweet, as pungent is
When it diverts from pain

Sweet, as rain is
When it first touches the earth

Sweet, as the mind
That chooses to process only ideas

Sweet, as the heart
That choose to filter in only beauty

Sweet, as in the less sugar tea
When the conversation has picked up speed

Sweet, are you sure it's just a taste?

Premium Member Taking yoga with a goat

Things we remember and some that we won't:
changing batteries on a remote,
building sand castles with a moat.,
applying a second coat,
grabbing an umbrella to tote,
sharing an ice cream float,
limiting salt, so we don't bloat,
mailing the thank you notes you wrote,
buying lozengers for a sore throat,
wearing a life jacket when on a boat,
remembering where your supposed to vote,
taking yoga with a goat..

Ebola 1

Everyone needs to be conscious to stay safe or alive
Because Ebola(named after a river)virus ravages with a mission to kill,
Often hand washing with soap or alcohol burns like grill,
Loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, sore throat, fever are imminent.
Animal vectors like bats should not be consumed which is very pertinent.

Feeling Rough

Feeling Rough

Sore throat, runny nose,
Could be a cold I suppose,
Or could it be influenza?
I think I need a detox cleanser

Turmeric, folic acid, gingko leaf
I'm feeling rough beyond belief
High B.P. and heart attack
Been called a hypochondriac

Gout in toe, earache
I never know what to take
Rheumatism in both knees
That Ibuprofen gel seems to ease

All my ailments could fill a page
My greatest one is called old-age
