The Image of God
There once was a city slicker
Who posted photos on flickr
All naked and clean
But rated, "Obscene"
By Rabbi, Priest, and the Vicar!...

City Slicker
Cities are bountiful at night
As if one is trapped within a beautiful dream.
It makes one’s shell want to explode and scream
Lights make for a deceiving sight....

Randy Slickers First Day
The first day of work, a fiasco became
Given badges with first initial, last name
None could be sicker
Than Randy Slicker
"Please, don't do this to me!", he would exclaim!...

Roy Moore Do Deplore
Roy Moore Do Deplore

Have heard Roy Moore himself does adore;
Republicans him they are trying to ignore;
Southern slicker,
And noses picker;
While rest of America will hate and abhor.

Premium Member The Olde Salt
a frayed brim,
jeans torn and worn
- faded by sun and sea;
a carefree beard,
not of fad nor fashion
   but of living!

tears and tears for
truant truths
      dried
like the salty stains
on a slicker and
the vacant hopes
  of a stare......

Suddenly Spring
Endless days of gray and drizzle
Bumbershoots constantly at the ready
Constantly we pull on our overshoes
And break out once again the slicker

Suddenly and brilliantly the sky appears blue
We peer with shaded and squinted eyes
Marveling at the sheer, elegant beauty
In Washington, spring has finally arrived...

Premium Member Champagne Magic
There are those who
Are after red roses
that’s what appeals to their noses
Though violets are blue
 they just will not do
Give her champagne
and she dozes
Because candy is dandy
 flowers take hours
but liquor is quicker
With liquor is slicker,
Her senses grew quicker,
Champagne’s magic is all that was due.

So That's the Reason Why
Their population on the swell,
The local yokels just couldn't tell,
Why their isolated town called Bugaree,
Red dust and drought for all to see,
Was inundated by a city slicker hell.

You see,it was a radio man from 2CE
Using language bordering on thuggery,
Delivered such a terrible harangue,
Abusing listeners when they rang,
Had told everyone to go to buggery....

Little Sister
Little sister's seen it all happen to you
She's been exposed and could not care less
Get in the car, open up, undress
Little sister, she's no fool
She's seen it all happen to you

Hold it in, tuck it in, behind teas and cakes
Does she really learn from your mistakes?
Will her innocent face take the blame?
She's done bad, bad things compared to you
Slicker, smarter, crazy little fool...

Premium Member Yolks Slickers and Lemon Zest
yellow yolks on the kitchen floor
brighten up the tile
sunflower seeds glow in the sun
for a country mile

dandelions with their bright heads
springing up all over the yard
sunshine magic on my front porch
enticing me to bard

rain coat slicker and yellow boots
shining in the rain’s little test
the only thing that would make today more sweet
would be a taste of lemon zest....

Premium Member Daisy Was Tired of Waiting
Donald Duck got rained on plenty hard that day
His yellow slicker was wet every which way
We saw him standing there, beside Hamil’s Bay.
Waved to him too, said my cousin May.

Was he wearing a rain hat I asked with concern.
He did, but he still has a lot about women to learn.
He is waiting for Daisy, who has given up hope.
She has run off and gotten married, far away from this dope....

Premium Member Retreating after a Routine Bust
how absurd…an owl,
wearing a night cap…the fowl
an audience howl

owl downs his liquor
his entertainment slicker
audience snicker

in midst, a jeerer
a foul audience nearer
here comes the sheerer

this owl on huge bough
seriously satisfied
resting one big eye

trees have been silenced
feathers like Autumn leaves float
owl is on retreat

owl dreams as bough shakes
he’s trying out sick routine
laughing to himself

Yellow
Yellow

yellow yolk pauses
plunges into batter
swirled by the whisk
into blurry starry circles

glistening rain slicker
puddle-skipping girl
yellow dash of color
vanishing behind umbrellas

daffodils stand silent
I lie under blankets
watching yellow stars
streak me sky-dizzy

be still, stars,
find your perfect places
beside the yellow moon,
so I can remember
a yolk intact,
resilient daffodils,
and a happy splashing girl...

Premium Member Rainy Day Times
Rainy Day Times In my childhood, I just relished rainy days, all prepared in yellow slicker, hat and boots. I was oft the crazy kid outside that plays, catching water from drain pipes down off the roofs. Cars would pass, hit a puddle, and what a spray! Beneath my coat, I would wear a swimming suit. Now I’ve aged and rainy days are soothing times, to stay inside, feel the peace and write some rhymes. 6/28/17

Premium Member Dismantled
Round heels of crumpets,
aromatic lavender jam.
Poached eggs in a skillet,
succulent portions of ham.
An awakening stretch had heralded
a yawn mouthed long and loud.
While rain fell down in splatters
from the dark pewter clouds.

Dated Macintosh slicker,
hoary exhausted gum boots.
Tenacious steps into nature
in search of family and roots.
The fallacies of the wind
twists hair into long plaits.
Across wide fields of enchantment
new journeys await....

Time Has Grown Old
The new year has came in

But, all is the same

Nothing changes

Still the cheating, stealing,

Killing

Only a bit slicker!!

The graveyard still filled

With

All the broken hearted

Bones stack to the top

Pouring over the sides

Waiting to be mend

Hearing cries scream out

But silence said hush

Your screams will not be heard

All your skeletons just followed

You through the doors of 2008

The new year just begun but

Already grown old.....
