Retreating after a Routine Bust

how absurd…an owl,
wearing a night cap…the fowl
an audience howl

owl downs his liquor
his entertainment slicker
audience snicker

in midst, a jeerer
a foul audience nearer
here comes the sheerer

this owl on huge bough
seriously satisfied
resting one big eye

trees have been silenced
feathers like Autumn leaves float
owl is on retreat

owl dreams as bough shakes
he’s trying out sick routine
laughing to himself

This owl certainly IS 'a howl.' He's capped off my night with a guffaw. Thanks, Kim.

This poem inspired by my husband’s comment on a commercial where an owl was dressed up. My husband said: Do people still wear night caps? Thank you, Gershon! Glad you enjoyed!

Wow you managed to figure this one out. It looks difficult to me. Well done. It is an enjoyable read.

Kim, I'm taking the title literally and trying to follow along the various phases of behavior. Too funny. The things people get into OMG!

Fun to see how you followed the logic of title and poem! I so appreciate you! Titles are not always easy…sometimes they are harder than the poem (for me). Thank you, Duke!
