Golden Sands
Hands twirled
The magical wand
Feet skimmed
Over the golden sands
A celestial sojourn
My butterfly was born
Draped in colours
She cushioned my feet
So long
I'm homeward bound-

Jurassic Echo
Ancient dragonfly
Iridescent flash of light
Colour captivates
Transient guest of summertime
Once skimmed quiet highland lake.
Jurassic echo
Frozen in amber resin
Yet, still captivates
Simmering glow from the past
Beauty undisturbed by time....

Mountainside
the majestic and
picturesque snow
capped mountains
left me
captivated
the view was
breathtaking
inhaling the
fresh air was
invigorating
the tranquil breeze
skimmed the surface
of my skin
and left me breathless
peace and serenity
assailed my senses...

Light Verse
To the Liquid Edge
She went into the dipping gold
rising the liquid dream
A medallion of innocent heritage
in the fluid of dusk, serene
I skimmed to the water's edge in haste
to capture this moment of peace
In a turmoil second this capsizing life
brought in bones of my loved one,
and memories deceased....

Pot Plants On White Tiles
Pot plants on white tiles
arranged in zigzags.
If I skimmed my eyes,
they made me dizzy.
In them, geraniums
from mum's shop,
and Daz arranged them
fancy style.
I loved those little pots,
and in the morning,
when Daz had taken out the flowers,
the pots still made me stare.

Protesting Ducks
As I ambled around the village pond
I skimmed a stone through reed and frond,
In distress, ducks took flight
Guilty I, to cause them fright.
Protesting loudly in their quacking
My common sense seemed sadly lacking,
I never thought that stone I chucked
Would cause such grief, to little ducks....

Hanging On For Dear Life
A gust caught a giggle
Scooping me up above the tree line
where the hot air balloons live
And the clouds play tether ball
Scattering the stars
Catapulting around Saturn
Hanging on for dear life
As the dragon kite skimmed and skirted
me back over the dewy grass
Dropping me like a note into my dreams

Lyrics In the Wind
I hear a melody floating in the wind
Lyrical whispers played in F sharp
as though a violin had been chinned
or an angel is caressing the strings of a harp
It dried the tears of willows, weeping
Tickled the ears of a slumbering dream
drifted past my window as tea was steeping
with a love sweeter than skimmed cream...

So Far From the Sea This Gull Flies
he skimmed this gelid air
on a gossamer breath
ascending then descending
adrift like my wishes
perhaps he was lost
like i in my unspoken thoughts
just wanting to be anywhere
other than where he should be
i closed my eyes
imagining
soaring
on his wings
aloft on dreams
as i spiraled
into the arms
of your love
momentarily
content...

Moments In Pain
I remember the days
Swifter than Usain Bolt
When they skimmed past
Without a glimpse of joy
The moments in pain
When a thick cloud
Settled over my dream
And deep darkness
Swallowed up my vision
It is of moments in my life
When pain was rife
With no peep of brightness
But the deep of darkness
Of my moments in pain
When my life was pale
With no glimpse of dawn
But bounds of downs...

I do not know?
Deeply Scarred
There was no sky over your
head. You sidestep the lake
and drown in a stream.
After carpet bombing of
scars, you missed the moon
and skimmed by
virtue of birth.
Lifting the stony vices
for thanksgiving. A puppet-
dies on a string. Nobody
claims the body.
Mistrust runs deep. You
will not ride the tiger-
again. The urn contains the
ashes of blue eyes.

Lazy Afternoon
LAZY AFTERNOON
Heady with scented freshness,
The drowsily flowing river
Glides through a sun-skimmed
Summer's simmering day -
As outpoured wine to be savoured,
Together with the static, fevered tones
Of a hot, unquenchable breeze,
Slow-meandering in its languid state,
Unhurried by the lazy afternoon's stillness,
Spent in the somnolent embrace
Of a weighted, swaying hammock,
Where the beat of time seems suspended....

One Pound Fifty
sun tanned unevenly, foxed
grimy fingers caress bruising
pounded by day's narration
churlish in onyx, was its hint
over feathered combs, see,
of flicked, creased pages
buried, stained words
were never read
while cold rooms grow colder
an author's sweat for nothing
stemmed the reader's keen
though skimmed at best
and your dilated pupils
captured out-of-breath palates
so I travelled second hand
yesterday, for just over a quid...

A Sundae For Balzac
Your treat, Monsieur de Honoré,
a sundae, hot fudge,
an iced cream dream
sans bureaucratic nightmares,
those trance-like states
of oh, so good men;
the static office-men
who barely skimmed life's
sweetness--that hot fudge sundae
nestled deep in the heart of all.
Time to eat up.
"Look! Monsieur de Balzac has already finished his!"
The inspiration for this poem came after reading
Monsieur Honoré de Balzac's novel, The Bureaucrats....

A Refining Fire
I used to imagine that the body
was a sort of fleshy gospel, bound together
by mind and ligaments.
Years of smutch, and oily reduction,
daily, a thin scum to be skimmed -
a process of dross elimination,
but each year there is a teaspoonful of loss
that cannot be explained, made up or accounted for,
more a lessoning and not an alchemy.
If this kind of culinary reduction
keeps losing the fat of me
I will be as nothing,
and maybe that’s the point....

Loss Soup
You have written with your heart
And shared it with, those worlds apart
Bared your soul in every verse
For us, a blessing, for you a curse
With pain you struggled to be heard
As we skimmed through every other word
Perhaps it's just not your time
For you to share what's on your mind
One day all poets get their due
I'm quiet sure, that so shall you
If not by contest winning Soup
Jan might share with you some poop
It always makes me feel like a winner ! Hi Jan lol...
