So Far From the Sea This Gull Flies

he skimmed this gelid air
on a gossamer breath
ascending then descending
adrift like my wishes

perhaps he was lost
like i in my unspoken thoughts
just wanting to be anywhere
other than where he should be

i closed my eyes
imagining
soaring
on his wings
aloft on dreams
as i spiraled
into the arms
of your love
momentarily

I often get lost in thoughts from the past and the memories are so vivid when I close my eyes. Beautifully expressed, Sandy. Hugs, John

Thank you Heidi I love to watch them as well. I am a little inland but sometimes they come around our area and make me wish I was at the oceans edge watching them :) hugs

Splendid write in imagery of seagull--evoking unspoken thoughts and memories--excellent as, always, Sandy.

Has me singing the song "Seagull" by Bad Company (one of my favorites) as is your beautifully free flowing poem my friend. This one took me away on those same wings. Wonderfully written.
