O Dejoy
If USPS has your gift
Delivery will not be swift
It seems the Night Shift
Just got the short shrift
And somewhere your gift went adrift!...

Short Shrift Execution
You're ill dressed,
I must confess.
For your date with destiny.
I hope your grime,
was worth the time,
you'll spend with me.

Premium Member This Merciless Heat
This merciless heat
smothers the earth
with air-less wings
It creeps in by degrees
stifling life's breeze
gives Nature short shrift
until it lifts...

I wish to declare my innocence
But alas my time is short
and I don't wish for my final words to be a lie!

Premium Member Gentle Squeezes
Light and airy summer breezes Make short shrift of springtime sneezes, Warm and thoughtful gentle squeezes Undo ill-tempered moody freezes, A welcomed smile much tension eases If we would always do what pleases.

Premium Member A Limerician's Shrift
It's the cell of a jail I am in

for the limerick fool I have been.

In the back of a hearse

I’ll be rhyming my verse

as they lay me to rest for my sin!

Short Shrift
Bless me father for I have drank
Bless me father for I have loved
Bless me father for I have killed
Bless me father for I have lied
Bless me father for I have fled
Bless me father for I have failed

Bless me father for I am ready

Premium Member To Jail With No Bail
Beat spouse
Called louse

In funk
Got drunk

Left bar
Drove car

Cop stopped
Got popped

Smelled booze
Bad news

Tests muffed
Handcuffed

To jail
No bail

Court date
Learned fate

Judge gowned
And frowned

One year
Oh dear

Confined
He pined

Short shrift
Wife miffed

Short Shrift
K-eep giving short shrift to throe,
E-vade the zone of stress;
N-ever pay any attention
T-o sorrow and sadness.

E-agerly give short shrift to woe,
S-tay away from anxiety;
T-ime to truly feel fine,
E-arly tenth of February.
B-e happy in heart and mind,
A-lthough your job is night shift;
N-ever mind the darkness, just give shadow short shrift....

Premium Member The Day the Prez Was Stiffed
When Boehner invited Netanyahu to address Congress, the prez was miffed!

Congress didn't notify him and he whined, "By gawd! I was stiffed!"

Boehner smiled and said, "Sorry, Mr. Prez! This time you get short shrift!"

"Well, you'll never be invited to fly on Air Force One again!" he sniffed!
