This Merciless Heat

This merciless heat
smothers the earth
with air-less wings
It creeps in by degrees
stifling life's breeze
gives Nature short shrift
until it lifts

We actually haven't had much heat yet this summer, the high is usually in the low 70's - but there have been hot summers which were quite merciless!

Gershon, another interesting imagism poem nicely done. Unfortunately, the merciless heat doesn't seem to adversely affect the covid-19 pandemic's grip. Take care and stay safe! ~Mark

I think that idea (about heat killing off the virus) was a Trumpian Fantasy, frankly. Cheers, Gershon

I am loving this heat; it makes me feel like a cat in the sun as I lounge on my porch couch.

I am loving the heat too... about 15 minutes at a stretch. Over 90 gets to me now. ~ Old Man Gersh

If you've got any spare, send it over, our temps are 14°c at the moment. Tom

I'll send you 6.5 degrees Celsius, and I think that you and I will have solved the problem at hand!... Maybe the 'Supreme World Council of Know-Nothings' will now name us 'Master Scientists of Climate Change!' Thanks, Tom
