Premium Member Scene On a Road In Winter
An old man in a Frosty the Snowman
hat is driving a beat-up Ford truck.
A woman beside him, scarf wrapped
round her neck, gazes at him,
touches his face, then scoots
closer, head on his
shoulder. Seeing
this, I count
them as
rich....

Premium Member Leaf Dance
leaf gets picked up
blows around in the air
twists around effortlessly
enjoying the wind

leaf drops to the driveway
rises again, slowly, without a care,
breeze twirls her in a circle

I watch, entranced
loving autumn
and right now
this maple leaf

she smiles,
relaxed, happy,
as the wind scoots her
across the driveway...

Premium Member fancy snail travels to Japan
Snail travels to Japan in the fanciest way
We see him traveling, he’s cutesy today
He is wearing a camera around his neck.
He stops to give the emperor a genuflect.

His hat is from Australia, his eyeglasses from the wild.
He scoots around old men, he picks up a lady bug child.
We flowers surround him, admiring his ensemble of beauty.
It is our Japanese privilege, not our tradition or duty....

Only Leaves

Their numbers are overwhelming
golden and brown transversing my path.
I abandon every one in each step forward.

Green lives, lived,finally
fallen to the battlefield of my morning walk,
some burning red, the last fire extinguished.

Others are dry and crisp,
burnt toast of maples,
drifting and rolling as Mariah scoots them.

Is it the wind;
or are these pointy little corpses
positioning for Halloween tricks?...

The hummingbird hums right nicely
hovers for a quick look to see
If friend or foe you be
Then scoots away zip-a-dee

Premium Member Always a Widow
Here squats a Black Widow spider,
who sups a swig of sweet cider.
     He spies her there,
     scoots close to share
and sips the hot brew beside 'er.

She darts with aim to devour,
her size gives her lethal power.
     She fakes a hug,
     then snags him snug;
true bliss defines his last hour.

For some who deceive are gifted
to mask when power is shifted.
     The prey's surprise—
      he's soon incised—
his parts all broken and sifted....

My Unicycle Ride
It's my first time riding a unicycle,
I am terrified.
I don't want to let go of this wall
and end up mortified.

My friend had told me it was easy;
Now I know she lied.
She promises she'll be right there
and she's by my side.

I take a breath, I shift my feet,
I pedal just a bit.
The wheel scoots forward, so do I.
Finally, I commit!

I let go, pedaling forward,
I'm finally doing it!
I laugh with joy and stop the cycle.
Now's a good time to quit....
