lying in my bed
sleep beckons, then slips away -
sandman is on strike

for Line Gauthier's Bite Size Poem #16
I won't go to bed
The Sandman will not take me
Awake forever
How Hitler knew
The fate of all
Only our teeth
Will remain
As sand by the sea
On this death world
For the Sandman
To make the rest
Dream of life
While they sleep.
Can't sleep
Count sheep
So weary
Eyes bleary
Relax
Sandman sacked
Get up
Make tea
Drink three
Dear me
Glance at clock
Get a shock
Sunrise
Closed eyes
Whispers the sandman
sleep is nigh
Tuck away your day
one last kiss, then bye
Dim the lights
breathe a deep sigh
Now let me sing you
a soft lullaby
Sandy is why
you need
to take heed
and move your guise
a lining
is in the sky
silver is the color
and the money is fly
.
honey…
it’s in the love
that I’m writing
.
to ‘you’
.
a storm
is coming
it's true.
sandman missed his house
the night he was most needed
consumed by such grief
his wife, a cancer victim,
had lost her battle that morn

Running
sneak a look back
heart pounding, sweat pouring
the hammer is about to fall
I wake
Spiritual magic
Dancing lightly
Dream State Ballroom
Formally formal
Gliding gracefully
Waltzing and bowing
Eyes flutter
Not quite closed
Slipping into abyss
Sandman magic
Whistling softly
To not disturb dreamer
Sleep
I need
Yet evades
My night time bed
I'm too hot, too cold
Too much stress to rest mind
Lullaby sings to the moon
I count sheep but would rather sleep
Pray, maybe a nap later today
The sandman is always running behind
My restless thoughts at last stop pestering me.
No consciousness have I when first I’m sleeping.
I long to be submerged in dreams’ deep waters.
Oh, Sandman, guide me past your sandy shoreline
to drift inside the sea of sweetest slumber.
one hundred sixty two games
knowing all the players names
follow scores best we can
west coast games bring sandman
we'll watch the standings
keep track of innings
after all-star game it ignites a flame
winners will win and losers fall to shame
Let me write a couple lines
before I go to sleep
I promise not to burden you
nor to make you cry or weep
Lay your face down on the pillow
on the shoreline 'neath the willow
May you the sandman sprinkle
with dreams of stars that twinkle
What a waste.
This park,
This urinal,
This white stain.
And I am undone.
As always, repeating
Myself without a
White flag in site.
Consequences bequeth
Me and I wish
I could pay the
Sandman.
But not quickly,
no.
A Buddhist,
A mantra,
A sin.
Mr Sandman is calling my name
Blew slumber powder on my brain
What lies ahead for me in sleep
Hoping for peace and happy dreams
Good night poets one and all
Hope you dream big and tall
Or if your time to be awake is now
Hope your hearts desire is found
And now to sleep
Stars sparkle and gleam
The world's quiet; nary a peep
My pillow is soft, ready for dreams
Stop swirling, stray thoughts
No more reflections to ponder
By the sandman I'm caught
Open now, portal to wonder
~ Pleasant dreams, Soupers! ~
Sandman, sandman
Hold me tight
Help me go to
Sleep tonight
Saying zee, zee
Zee, zee
Zee, zee
Let me go to
Sleep dream free
Sandman, sandman
It’s alright
Help me go to
Sleep tonight
I’m fright, fright
Fright, fright
Fright, fright
Make sure you
Cut out the light
DREAMS
star-dazed
angel dust
sifting through the night
sandman meanderings
in drifting snowflake patterns
"sky-dive through one's own subconscious"

The little babies wake up early
They are ready to start their day
Playing with their toys for hours
Then sleepy for their naps
Ready to play until bed time
So laying in their cribs
They are wide awake
Waiting for Mr Sandman
To join them at their cribs
With magic to make them sleep
As the Day Ends
Vivid sunset in motion
painted waves on red ocean
the dark is creeping near
Birds stop their commotion
Sandman spreads his sleep potion
now silence is loud and clear
When the day takes demotion
time to give your devotion
to those you hold most dear.
Baby Dreams.
Candy floss dreams in pastel blue,
Soft soothing gentle lullabies,
Peaceful Rainforest sounds construe,
To close two tiny sleepy eyes.
The joy of Granny's gentle hug,
The love in Papa's quiet voice,
Bathtime glowing, all wrapped and snug,
The sandman leaves no room for choice.
Doors lock
Tick tock
Sandman creeps
Children sleep
Flip flop
Easter bunny hops
Tired legs
Deliver eggs
Colorful decorations
Beautifully crafted creations
Glorious sun rises
Children seek surprises
Baskets galore
Little hearts soar
Send up thanks and prayers
Celebrate how deeply our Savior cares
Prayers
The Sandman calls to say
go upstairs. Time for you
to say your prayers in the
magic land from beyond.
To the man who cares
the most about us.All
across the coast they're
saying their prayers in layers.
Where might this be well to
heaven above,To the stars
beyond to our Heavenly Father.
Midnight dreams of love
Of light, of hope, bring them normalcy
Spiritual glimmers of the possible-ness
Of it, soothing my soul.
Upon awakening, daylight reality
Squelches the dreams, am I willing
To go back to the sandman and pull the
Hope and love cord into this dimension?
If I do, will they come true?
I dare to hope.
What would you do,
If I snored out of tune,
Would you dump a pail of water on me?
Lend me your pillow
And I'll snore you out a croon,
I will try to keep my snoring to me....
Ruby; I don't have a sandman,
but I do have two concrete users,
Rocco, and Vinny (Asphalt Vinny, they call him)
and I hear they're lookin' for me!
