At a gala party not long ago
her bra strap suddenly let go
as she danced the ballroom floor.
To the astonishment of all guests,
she described her falling breasts
as an avalanche on Mt. Rushmore....

Jesus is the greatest and he's a man who millions of people adore.
His head should be carved in a rock like we did to Mount Rushmore.
If his head gets carved, it will be a symbol of love.
It would be a fitting tribute to Jesus who is above.
A sculpture of Jesus's head is something that we should create.
It would be an inspiration for the people and it would be great....

I always like Fall best 
You can eat buttery pancakes 
From huge Ihop 
And Omelets 
And Toast 
And skillets 
And lots of Reese 
And Butterfingers 
And Twix
At the colorful gas station 
And listen to
Nice relaxing music 
On the hill
At the Mt. Rushmore 
And go to the Corn Palace with 
My friend Troy 
And go to the baseball game
And watch the sunset setting...

Washington, Jefferson, Abe and Theodore.

Can you imagine if they had been carved in three-D?
Which one would your eyes want to look over and see?
I am talking about the backside, their petootsies you know.
Can you imagine the sight from the tourists down below?...

Men of enormous stature
In the land of The Lakota,
Keystone, South Dakota
Fourteen years undertaking
Borglum’s work breathtaking,
With sixty-foot-high faces
Carved into granite outcrop,
One of our country’s
Most celebrated places.

Sisters in looks only, but they shared a laugh.
It was witch-like, head-thrown-back, quite a gaff.
Their husbands did not see their twinship much anymore.
One lived in the Keys, the other near Mount Rushmore.

But when they got together they had such a great time!
They could finish each other’s sentences, sometimes in rhyme.
There is nothing like a sister, especially an identical twin.
Being together in solidarity was a comfort, truly a win....

why
I ask
did she do that
i console myself
sun got in her eyes


trying to remember
is it mary lou
or carrie
never mind
whichever just gave me the finger


this english class
so big
yet so small
sitting back of
that long    shiny    black hair


all i said was
could i borrow a piece of paper
then she blew
tossed the wet rag
over her shoulder


that awful night
I asked her out
no reply
just a face
that belongs on rushmore

Bag Lady 

		Chicago’s North Side

This senior citizen 
whose face is Rushmore still
squats with pigeons on the steps
of the Rogers Park Masonic Temple.
She wears a shawl this snowy day 
and is beneath the visor of a hunting cap 
a woman who has paused along the way.
Her shopping bags, stuffed, frayed,
and each square feature of her face, confess
she speaks at best a little English.
Rested, she will rise, 
a penguin on a floe,
and navigate her day.
