Dragon Slayer
dragons that he slew..

        tiny roosting dragonflies..

                laugh tears in her eyes.....

Poplars

against the rising moon;
filled full of roosting cormorants-
sleeping;
as
long shadows,
rippling between
reflections of scudding clouds-
where evanescent images
settle....

Premium Member Musings of a Wise Old Owl
Mused the owl roosting on a pine tree shoot,

"My colleagues think I'm not very astute,

But I wisely perch in pines,

          Not on hot transmission lines!

If they singe their butts I don't give a hoot!"...

Blackbirds
A moment ago,
in a flicker of pique,
with a wave of the hand,
I dispersed them.

Glorious birds,
now they are back,
gold talons wrapped,
roosting.

Glorious birds,
high on a wire,
spearing the nits
in their feathers.

Broken Wing

I am left alone
a bird of prey
feasting on carrion
wasting my talent
roosting on the ground
unable to grasp
the inevitable
longing for the wind’s
warm updraft
to lift me
from flightless
death

Sunday Shopping
Who has claimed
the highest
perch as I lurch
into the supermarket
for more inventory
to tell my story.
Sea birds roosting

on the superstore roof,
or cruising its parking
lot: it's what they've
got, and here's the proof.
It's not their fault
they're far from salt.
We're to blame....

Green Circle
You are peeling me off
like a crab.
Time has sunk very low.

For the hungry kids
who was growing crab apples ?

Creating art,
arriving between the pubes.

A microfossil
roosting within me.
I could live without oxygen.

Incandescent,
the liquid wounds.
I will not send any salvo.

Premium Member Songs of Summer Swallows
I hear serenading songs of summer swallows and ruffling feathers of roosting starlings. I catch the sweet scent of heirloom roses that have not yet budded upon the bush. All these things I know have been given to me as surely as I see you standing before my eyes.

I Wished
In a fine weather
In your garden
I wept
When the gentle breeze blew .

When the fragrance felt
Of the champaka flower,
When a wild pigeon cooed
Roosting at the tree branch yonder,
When egrets seen flying
Towards the distant blue hill
In a fine weather
I wept
In solitude
In your garden ....

Animal Crackers
tap dance temple dancers
tease a mocha monkey
swinging from a tower
munching chips gets chunky

simian sisters see
spunky the funky ape
chewing the ruby red
sweetest juiciest grape

roosters roosting singing
songs to a silent Somme
hens roost on silver silk
poke-a-dot eggs neath mom

charmer the hooded snake
swings around crowds at night
pops from a basket brown
hemp woven strong and tight...

To Be a Pop Star
O - To be a Pop Star

    A pop star
with millions of
    dollars
gold records on
    the wall
But....
      they stay up all night
usually high as all hell
       so (for the moment)
     I shall
        put away my harmonica and
keyboards
      (at least for now)
             return
to a life of poetry, chess
 and ESL
I am roosting at the moment
             on the Lower East Side...

Winter Warm
Winter Warm

The blazing trees have thinned now,
Like an old man’s falling hair.
Little limbs and leaves
Litter the mud brown ground,

Fewer robins are roosting.
Apples and onions sleep in deep cellars,
Gray curtains of winter come down, and
My heart holds secret warmth for you only.

So while all about is cold and bleak,
That dear soft warmth will remain,
Contented ‘til we unending meet.
This is my longing by a crackling fire....

The Secret Source
artesian well
gush and flow of thirsty love
his Banyan soul rejoiced
new trunks from his psyche
sprouting
arching,bridging the gaps
between synapses
chemical bees abuzz
with words of love
he ,a forest of one
she,his indigo lagoon
mystifying
answering
deep
she hidden in his roots
he,reaching for the sun
for all to see
roosting the colored birds
of poems ripen in his leaves
indigo blue as their source
picked and shared by all...

Silent Night

A silence enveloped all
slowing the pace
of everything.

Yellow glow of city lights
shadows - following
meandering mice,

whispered hymns
roosting in the blue
ice crusted branches,

moon dancing silhouettes
pirouetting atop
drifted snow,

cool breath exhaled
upon restless
reverie,

peace
kissing the earth
in silence.

Weather Or Not
Here’s an observation that
You might consider funny –
If the weathermen predicted certain rain,
Many might be disappointed if
It turns out being sunny,
Though such disappointment
Goes against the grain.

For most welcome brighter days
To lift the spirits needing boosting
As opposed to those where clouds bring thoughts of gloom,
But for folks who lately feel
They’re better off indoors, just roosting,
There’s a preference
To stay inside the womb....

Premium Member Sun Versus Moon
Sun fades from autumn skies with rainbow light
Then the gloaming will darken skies with night.
Roosting birds return to boughs, a grand sight,
As twilight shadows captures them in flight
When the pale moon tests our will and our might
While rising slowly to her lofty height,
Causing lovers to kiss, or foes to fight.
Enchanted moon will soon fade in soft light
As the sunrise again conquers the night.
