The Unimpressed Owl

Regally stationed on a branch
The wide eyed owl stared acute
His capable vision saw it all
But still he did not give a hoot!

The Fawn

Regally she turned her head
Flicking her tongue into the morning mist
Tasting cologne in the wind
She gracefully galloped into the woods

Premium Member Like the Sphinx

Like the Sphinx
Igor lies regally
With eyes closed off
To the world.
He finds his zen
And feels the breeze
But knows not how much
He is revered.

Bats

Acrobatic bats circle dark English fields gulping hairy insects joyfully, keeping lazy men
napping on porches, quite regally snoring together, until various wild xenophiles yell zealously!

Murder She Wrote

Beauty
In an intricately planned,
Regally orchestrated,
Murder?

She wrote
On his pillow
As she wept

With the blade
Shining in splendor
And ripe yet pungent
Blood

Swimming in the blood of her love.

Huge Cats

tiger.. unseen in the bush,
golden black stripes ominous,
beauty ferocious!

panther.. sinuous, jet-black,
moonlit shadow on a bough,
emerald eyes know!

lion.. basking in the sun,
regally maned predator,
the tawny terror!

Dusk's Gilded Seams

Darker seams regally gleam
Sea's turquoise waves glow
Tanned bodies in shadows bask
Neon boards surf strew
Mercurial strobe
Sky's coppertone beams hover
Moon's palling pale globe

Blending in so beautifully in the endless everglades The heron waits patiently The warm wind ripples the water He waits regally Standing still like a statue in silent blue waters He waits hungrily Catching his first fish of the day No more waiting - he dines like a king Inspired by Majestic Pose 3~11~15 Contest Florida Nature never judges Submitted to Premiere Contest #13 sponsored by Skat

Breathtaking - An Acrostic

Breathtaking (an Acrostic)

Beauteous, majestic mountain peaks
Regally reach to rendevous with an indigo sky
Evergreens maternally envelope
A cool placid lake
Tall timbers bow in a gentle embrace
Heralding geese fly overhead
Tiny wild-flowers rub their eyes to wake
A lonely loon is heard echoing it's lullaby
Kissing in the dawn hello
In celebration of a perfect day
Natures blueprints to a
Gallery of splendor.....

Acrostic For Carol Brown

Time honored functions
Has been tried and perfected
Even the animals know the ways of the birds and the bees

Best with much strutting and songs
Increase the anticipation of love
Regally displayed emotions
Drape the natural colors and
Songs on my heart strings

Advance passionately
New gifts arouse the pleasure
Drawn against his manly charms

To
Hear
Exclamation points!!

Buzzing around in my head
Energeticly
Enticing

Naked Trees

Naked trees reach regally
To the cerulean sky.
They do not give a fig about
The people passing by.

In summer they put on a show,
With buds and leaves adorned;
But in the winter, they’re ignored,
By audiences scorned.

As if they care! They stretch,
Quite unencumbered without blooms;
And pose, admiring themselves,
In Nature’s dressing rooms.

Such freedom! They appear content,
With silhouettes serene;
I’ll miss their twiggy skeletons
When once more they are green.

Premium Member Enormous Frozen Stalagmite Icicle

my frozen tundra
stalagtite icicle
protected by snow

winter residue
her fantastic confidence
regally standing

solid and secure
overseeing the village
guarding the mountain

winter protects her
carefully keeps her secrets
adding extra strength

she enjoys brief reign
glistening in frozen truth
spying on others

a dazzling glow
many come to worship her
rever her coldness

wishing she could stay
a frosty benefactor
winter creatures hide

Acropolis

Ancient fortress, the wind carried to me your silent call,
Commune with your warring deities way deep in my soul.
Rooted among the scarred ruins strewn through the ages,
On thy hallowed ground I stand to pay my humble homage.
Parthenon, implore Athena to shield the shining city
Over whose skylines you kept watch for centuries.
Like an eagle surveying this Hellenic kingdom
In majestic splendor - now and forevermore -
Stay regally proud, mighty and strong.

Enduring the Ages

Endure Stoic saguaros, Capture the sunset Reach for the stars Shelter creatures near and far Tell them they are safe here Regally stand tall and absorb summer rains Gather rainbows and share the pot of gold Nourish nubs of life on your massive trunk For they ensure survival of your bloodline Hold yourself proudly my desert king Relish your strength and heritage Spread your fertile seeds Kiss the clouds Always, always, Endure

Highway Hawks

Highway hawks perch regally
On branches way up high,
Surveying their surroundings
As the traffic passes by.

No leaves to offer camouflage,
They're easier to see
And heading to New England
Half a dozen I did see.

Though immobile, I imagine
Any second they might swoop,
Plucking rodents from the roadside
Which their talons swiftly scoop.

Glad I'm spared of such theatrics.
I enjoy their haughty pose
Which majestically inspires
Much more poetry than prose.

Thy Birth

The world lay in deepest darkness
As black as a raven’s wing
Bereaved by the sadness of sin
Awaiting the One who would save it
And cause the world to sing

It happened one Bethlehem morn
The hope of all men global
That a star bore witness to the birth
Of the King of kings so regally
In a feeding trough less noble

O come ye let us him worship
And forfeit to him our all
For he is that pearl of greatest price
That is worth more than we surrender
To possess him at his call
