Rapacious
Rich get richer as they
ride shamelessly over
rights, and equality;
remorseless profiteers,
reaping their lust for gold,
reduce the rabble to
rats in a maze of debt....

Consistent Congress
Contemptibly craven
Oratory obfuscates
Never nuanced
Gerrymandering guile
Readily reacts to roaring rabble
Egregiously expects economic encouragement
Smug, self-righteous and self- serving
Slippery sounding sound bites...

Wisdom
When we’re young and prefer sagging trousers,
we're left-wingers, we're hippies, carousers.
Then we age and grow wise,
cause our trousers to rise,
and send soldiers to shoot rabble-rousers....

M'Lady's Shallot
Tis August, organics abound,
tomatoes juicy and round,
potatoes new dug from the ground,
among the delights to be found.
But best is the lowly shallot.
Queen of the oniony rabble
over it M'Lady did babble,
this oft neglected vegtable,
which Tennyson never forgot....

Demonstrators Versus Rioters
I support folks who challenge a perceived wrong by peaceful demonstration.
The First Amendment guarantees that right, when all is said and done.
But I loathe the rioting rabble who are ripping apart this great nation!
Such anarchic mobs have no respect for anything or anyone!...

I Want to Write a Poem
I want to write a poem
but my mind is not in motion,
it's been appropriated by the babble
of the television rabble
who tell us what to think
and that our own ideas stink
trust us they say
come what may
we'll take care of you
and we won't see it coming
when they drop the other shoe

Playing With Wings
Rabble of butterflies, fluttering on.
Bluish beauty,
come to me.
Touch me,
Missed!
Missed,
my kiss.
Play with me,
sing my soft purr,
Roll with blissful wind's gentle euouae.

man....ah talk too much...
ah talk too much...much too much...
yes...ah talk too much...
what...does it all mean...
noise of a talking machine...
no...it does not mean...
anything...at all...
just statistical babble...
of...fractal rabble...
some old analog...
parallel thinking in time...

Heckled By Winds, Like the Rabble
Heckled by winds, like the rabble
Of royal upsets of times
Summer, from his throne-chair of
A gold-rayed backing
What's yet true in minions' trill
Hears his homage in.
With his robes of former glories
Unravelling leaf by leaf
Summer, in what hangs dark for
Abdication's threat
A sky of crow now outlines.
Starlings' cloud-like net....

Yaba Daba Do
Here we sit, in a fair
By and by round a table
All in all without a care
Like a baby in his cradle
Longears asks us how do we do
The world is screaming but we
Do fine as rabble dabble do
Most of us know not but he
Knows most of us, what to do
When fire strikes, or rain falls
Like a cascade on the crew,
Or on the rabbits in their halls
Shouting "yaba daba do"...

Home You Bastards
Home You Bastards
Are we the same species living
flaming bright but for a moment
weeping laughing in our turn
before the altars now and ancient
and frightened of frigid border
breaking glass covering our fear
we shouted with a rabble rousing
home you bastards you're unwelcome here
yes we once the strangers cowed
now cover the ears of children
in case they believe such evil dwells
in parks in temples in civic building...

I do not know?
Wait
If I gave my service to earthly kings
My arm would be a jeweled sky
And I would worth my weight in rings
Of gold and medals shine the eye
Or earth would bow before. But here
A great Creator, who unseen, bids
Me wear my servant-hood and share
The blistering burdens taunted amids
The rabble rousing rancid crowd
Where bragging of wealth is disallowed
Except that in which I find you ... faith
To labor, hope, and in the rabble wait....

For Addie'sman
For Addie who put up with him
Through all those years of scrabble
Who left before he came so grim
And rose above the rabble
He sits and sips in friendly bars
Filling napkins with his life
I read them later under stars
A thin worn blade of knife
Reminiscing ever missing
Addie’s gentle hold
Trying to point the way along
To other wayward old
And though I didn’t know you then
I’ll take the time t’ thank you Glen
For sharing that’s been told...

What the Radical Religious Rabble Rousers Are Thinking
All of Islam deserves our hate
Unlike ours—this faith can’t be great
The ground zero mosque
Is an evil kiosk
Our lord says to obliterate
What’s better than the Ku Klux Klan
And frightens the bad Taliban?
Yes—with a book roast
America will toast
Those evil who read their Koran
Burning books ain’t nothing to fear
Infernos are fun with a beer
So with drink all cheer—(hip hip hooray!)
To hate is nothing queer
Hitler did it—and he we revere...

Songs of Dark and Light
A mob of crows conflate a raucous debates
with sweet songs.
They gather
on the broken branches of Autumn,
they fill the leafless spaces
that now are only naked windows
for a colorless sky.
An ad hoc hectoring
of dark and light notes shakes a cold wind -
a song sheet for the fallen and failing.
If you watch and listen
to that black-winged rabble
all will turn into the glossy iridescence
of ethereal harp music
played solo upon the few twigs left
within these stark woods....
